Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

Nothing? We’re not in the Middle East except Afghanistan, and even there our presence is slowly diminishing

You’re just making crap up now aren’t you?

The casters, No I don’t support that at all, they were literally scared. But him, he knew what he was doing, didn’t care if it might affect anyone around him and did it anyway. I agree with what hes doing and saying. Free speech should be given to all people, all human beings. But just because you do something for the right reason doesn’t mean you shouldn’t face the consequences of your actions.

For now that’s all we can do, and since China hasn’t yet overtaken the combined EU/US market, it should be significant enough for Blizzard to take notice.

Free speech yes. It is a human right. It should not be limited to just the US. It for all humans.

However it can be twisted very badly. A freedom of mankind can get twisted. You don’t have to look very far to find it.

Perhaps they can invite Corpsegrinder back and he can call Alliance “f****ts” again.

Then we might all say, “Oh, yeah. I just remembered why Blizzard might have rules about saying stuff during its events…”

We are not in the Middle East? What are you smoking bro?

I feel a bit ignored in this conversation with no one responding.

Oh well. At least I put my 2 cents in

Fueling the military industrial complex and proving corrupt politicians a place to dump super lucrative contracts on those who donate to their campaigns. (Thanks Citizens United). Also 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

yeah because some 2nd rate entertainer trying to be edgey is just so the same as people losing what little freedom they has AND their lives.
Perspective.

Sorry man just over 6.666k posts hard to follow xd

There isn’t a single news source or reputable person that isn’t critical of Blizzards actions right now, only some random chinese shills on this forum.

or the really weird blue-hairs that have everyone blocked and are mocking “freeze peach gamerz” for not saying anything about it, when, you know, they have them blocked. When, y’know, every single one is condemning Blizzard, too.

What? We’re in Syria, Iraq (still), and Saudi Arabia. We’re helping the Saudis slaughter innocent people in Yemen.

That was my point too.

Whether the reporting is accurate or not… it boils down to this:

A game contestant broke contest rules by abusing the mic and voicing a political agenda. He was punished for it. The entire freedom-loving world can object and it’s not going to change anything.

It is not even a newsworthy event.

Blizzard’s act was not the action of a government or an entity that has any power at all over China. It’s not realistically going to cut its profit margin by crapping on the Chinese government. No company that does business with China is willing to do that.

Trying to work it up into some huge deal (and getting every clone “news” source on Earth to report it) doesn’t change the fact that this occurred in a privately sponsored game competition. Hardly earth-shattering news and it is doubtful that apart from the current kerfluffle, it will have earth-shattering consequences. Or any significant consequences.

I do understand that people feel strongly about this. I respect your opinions. I just believe it’s a complete waste of time and is not backed by enough sincere devotion to the cause of “Free Hong Kong” to be taken seriously by the ptb.

Okay but who is we exactly? because I have no intention of not playing world of Warcraft because of something that I had nothing to do with. I don’t care enough about this situation in order to take any action I’m over 50 years old and I’ve been watching this crap with China for four decades at least parent and I know nothing that I can do here sitting here in my chair right now is going to change anything about communism or China. So we aren’t actually doing anything. A fewpeople in here have gotten pretty rowdy with some of us who refuse to quit playing world of Warcraft but those people have also made it clear that they won’t take a firm stand against China and stop buying all Chinese products entirely so that the tax dollars that the products sold would give to Chinese government would cease and desist. If they’re not willing to take that kind of a stand then you all can’t possibly expect me to stop playing my video games over it

Not in any significant number outside of Afghanistan, no. The extent in other countries is just advisors and the odd special forces or counter terrorism unit, not full on deployment.

Yeah, I get it. Just weird how everyone else is responding to everyone but me.

Doesn’t matter too much (just find it weird how people ended up talking about Trump in a wow forum)

No, Hong Kong is a part of China in a very clear and precise way. Since the handover China has had full authority over all matters like Foreign Affairs and Security. The internal governing of Hong Kong remains as is until the 50 years is up. At that point it becomes just another Chinese city.

Or not.
When random, inconsequential people say offensive things, I dismiss them totally. I need neither their approval nor their support. if they want to spout invective, that only serves to identify the sort of person they are to me. Sticks and stones.
