Whats foolish is assuming that PRC doesn’t dictate EVERYTHING that happens media wise in that country.
Hell they actively change the way things are presented here in the states.

You know which country has more customers?
I’ll give you a hint, there population hit 1.386 BILLION people.
They removed it because it was a clear violation of the rules put in place ahead of time. Its not a matter of morals, when you sign a contract with someone you are held to the standard and agreement of said contract. Its no more in depth than that. That’s the part you don’t seem to grasp. The line is drawn, don’t cross it or we have to remove you from that side of the line. Seems pretty straight forward. If you as a person aren’t worth your word, you aren’t worth much of anything. Morals or not, he signed an agreement with the company paying him and he violated. Every company in America would do the same for a breach of contract.
I think Blizzard respects that they have enough negative publicity already, including both Democratic and Republican senators yelling at them, that cracking down on their forums now would not work out well for them.
I don’t think any further back and forth is going to change either of our opinions.
I would encourage you to do some research on PRC media influence and regulations if you truly believe that blizzard just made this decision in a vacuum.
Lets break it down barney style and put it into a perspective you can maybe understand. Contracts. If you sign a contract to rent a home, or an apartment and you breach that contract you get removed. You might have kids and they might not have a safe place to sleep if you evict them, its morally wrong, but the reality is it happens everyday. Because if you’re not good for your word you’re not good for anything. You sign a contract under the premises that you will uphold your end of said contract, and when you don’t, you face repercussions. That’s what happened here, end of story.
Jesus Christ you freaking nitwit its not about the freaking contract >.<
Tell us, what is it ‘all about’.
Having a coke and a smile.
Really though, my main point is calling out all the western corporations that can’t wait to hop on the bandwagon of the next weak social outrage in the western nations but more than happy to throw their morals out the window to get some of that sweet china money.
In this instance, blizzard has thrown their morals out the window for profit and they deserve criticism for it.
No they really havent. At the end of the day, all it’s about is the contract.
Oh you

I don’t think you realize how complex the “$$” aspect of this is.
Why do you think Starbucks stopped using plastic straws and closed all their businesses for an entire day to host racial equity trainings?
So, what you’re saying is we should do stuff that costs Activision-Blizzard money? Like give them negative publicity and cancelled subs? Do you realize that your argument against posting about the free HK issue is in fact an argument for it?
argumentum ad populum
Yet here you are playing their game. If you really believe what you say then vote with your dollar.
Ooh, those are big words for you. It’s like people saying if you want to prevent global warming then stop using cars. When many areas you have to have a car. But ok but keep using latin words to make up for your lack of an argument.
I can very much understand why Blizzard might ban, so that they don’t become a political platform, very similarly to how I can understand the NFL etc.
However, I would be very curious to see the above quoted statement you made tested.
Some people are also trying to make Mei from Overwatch into a symbol of Hong Kong freedom.
Which if anything comes of that, I’ll fully support using the power of internet memes for good.
I chose to get rid of my cellphone, there were consequences. I cannot honestly say that the opportunities I lost are NEEDS.
Stop personifying the spoiled westerner. You make us look bad.
I don’t think so, they would even champion it because it is the trend that will make them more money in the US.
