If you think the communist regime in Vietnam was a good thing, why do you care about what happens to Hong Kong?

Because countries have differing policies, historical context and aren’t interchangeable?

I admit that our good intentions have led to some less than optimal outcomes, but the fight was to free a people from an oppressive, communist regime.

Vietnam was never about good intentions. It was about Imperialism, and later Communist hyer-paranoia. If America cared about Vietnam, they wouldn’t of supported Ngo Dinh Diem’s corrupt and nepotistic government.
