Blizz going HAM on 10.0

Playable Lizards

please

What they really need are larger zones, like a Kalimdor sized zone. They need to make something like Kalimdor, block of half of it with some AQ style opening, gather all the resources, beat the raid boss and the next half opens.

What we have now, including the new 9.1 zone, is just too small and that’s half the problem, they put too much to do into a too little space and it feels really cluttered. It’s what I miss from Classic the most, the openess, the freedom, the exploration.

You forgot to mention grinding.

Neither of them, they would get far more positive outcomes from setting up existing classes to work without any borrowed power.

If covid and WFH are affecting 9.1 development and delaying patch releases, imagine the impact on 10.x development.

Blizzard is either going to pull a WoD and leave out much more stuff they had planned for later Shadowlands patches or 10.x is going to be delayed past the usual 2-year xpac cycle. My prediction, this day 5/15/21.

During BFA I was expecting SL to be great.

10.0? expectations are very low…

They will mostly triple the systems and grinds compared to what we have now. 20 different currencies each patch. And they definitely will prune Classes again. Sadism is their mandate. Has been for years.

I agree with everything except the rye. I like mine on a Keiser roll.

Oh please. Blizurd can’t balance what they have now. Don’t put more on their plate.

At this point I actually hope Shadowlands is WOD 2.0. If that gives them time to make expansion 10.0 as good as Legion I will sacrifice this expansion.

It would make sense to end in 9.2 anyways. In 9.1 we conquer the Maw, defeat the Mawsworn, the rogues gallery is kaput, all that’s left is the Jailer flying off into space and Mal’ganis putzing about. They could give Mal’ganis and his Dreadlords a full tier, but honestly, to me it makes sense to just have 9.2 be the final decisive battle and then launch into 10.0 afterward. People talking about Brokerland or In-Between and all this and I’m just thinking, narratively, what does that do? This isn’t a situation like WoD where there is a gap to be bridged in order to turn Grommash around from villain to hero. There’s no reason not to go into the end-game as far as I’m concerned.

We’ll have to see though. I mean we really have no idea what Blizzard wants to do with this expansion. They claim that the plot “has no detours” and that’s why they’re not doing mini-raids, we’ll really have to see.

Many of us have our reasons for disliking Shadowlands, our own grievances. Blizz definitely won’t be able to satisfy them all no matter what they do. I’m pretty much along for any story they want to tell. I’ve loved every bit of it, a lot of it probably to do with their top knotch cinematics. But, what I absolutely refuse to put up with anymore, is anything even remotely like an 5 month long Anima grind for cosmetics that takes away the ability to play alts or other games besides WoW. I’d still continue paying my sub even if I’m not required to be in the game 24/7 to accomplish my personal goals. But, I won’t continue paying a sub if I’m required to be in game 24/7 at the expense of doing other things I enjoy. I literally feel like I wasted months of my life because of Anima, and I never felt that way before…probably because it was 1) fun and 2) reasonable. The Anima grind is neither. And, I’m done with WoW if that’s the kind of thing they insist on doing. I don’t care about “oh, you’ll get more Anima later” arguments. I’m never playing through a system like that again.

Lol this is an old tired argument… So what your saying is, Blizz should never add anything new because YOU don’t like how its balanced now? Okay…

Delete DHs, mythic plus, CRZ, convoke, covenants, conduits, the Maw, vulpera, scaling, twisted corridors and Mortregar, LFR, Seething shore, Wintergrasp, Suramar, streamers, RIO, blood and void elves, arena, botters, hackers, multiboxers, pathfinder, SoTS, DoS, all of blackrock.

Add: Death knight buffs, warlock meta, bigger world zones, more loot drops, no flight in WM, player housing, tinkerers, bards, improve professions, class uniqueness (make mage portals important again).

The guy who made a class so fun that the devs admitted that they started dismantling it piece by piece because too many people played it.

This guy should be in charge of class design.

Enjoyable content, less systems, and a rewarding gameplay experience. They have had such a difficult time making their game worth logging in to lately, and the tedious systems make many people log off relatively quickly that I don’t want more classes, or zones, or… systems. I just want a game that I look forward to logging into again.

No more systems or microgrinds would be a good start, and less work on the devs. A new class, though a balancing nightmare, is always welcome. Flying should be achievable from day 1. World overhauls to reflect all the changes that have been made in lore since Cataclysm would be nice. Also kill factions outside of war mode, because cutting your player base, which isn’t growing any longer, in half is a terrible idea.

Ion and his team are 100% committed to proving their systems approach is the correct approach.

That is why their takeaway from BfA was “we should have released every system at the same time” instead of “too many systems ruin the fun.”

That is why we have Systemlands, which anyone can see has been a development nightmare and has received nearly unanimous criticism for its system bloat.

That is why even though Ion gets asked about easing up on systems every time he’s interviewed, his answer is always “nah :smirk:”.

They have so much riding on being “right” and that will not change. It’s not logical, it’s emotional.
