A lot of people only play once or twice a week. We can only guess at how many do that, but I am pretty sure that (whatever that number is) it’s going to be enough to cause Blizzard to retool the currency rate for a ton of activities.
They just grossly underestimated here (generally) and compounded the problem by building a system where it costs more for the transmog sets at the beginning.
This is definitely getting a Remix treatment of some sort… it’s just a question of how big the changes will be.
Edit: Turns out the answer was a buff to currency by a about 3-5 times… and it happened on the very next weekly reset, so yeah, it happened.
The first being pricey is usually for the main, then gets discounted for alts, as are all the other warband systems. Gearing up your main uses 15 crests per upgrade but your alts after that are only paying 10 per upgrade.
If you have enough time for alts, you have enough time to do weeklies (anniversay currency is warband based on weeklies so no reason to do it repeatedly on all alts). If you don’t have time for alts or weeklies, there’s little reason to need every set.
There is a finite number of currency that a player will get during the event.
If that number is 100, and you don’t buy anything but the transmog sets, then all of your effort will get you 2 sets. While you would have gotten 4 for the same average cost if they had just done them at a flat cost. That is not going to feel good to players with limited time.
And this basically does not even out until you have 12 sets at 300 currency.

I don’t understand how some people already have sets.
I got 35 of those marks in the first day that I played (yesterday) and got most of the achievements done except the ones that are not releasing until the 28th.
Honestly I don’t think its very time gated at all… was a fun experience and I got some mounts, pets, ton of AP.
Skill issue imo. Remember, this runs until january. Stop being so dramatic, people. Its a game. You don’t need the sets on the first day/week/whatever. You have months.
That has to be some bug or exploit. The currency sources are all limited to once per account per week, and even doing everything possible you still won’t even be close to 60 for the first set.

I WISH there was a slew of dailies for this like there were on PTR, you could actually get a set week 1, but now? 35 max week 1
I would’ve been happy with them leaving the dailies in like they were on the PTR and not remove them last minute to gut week 1-3 bronze numbers
currently sitting at 42 tokens. could be 43…but id rather chew glass than do arena pvp. bottom line was simple, they hyped the T2 ensembles as the centerpiece for the “celebration”, we should have had some daily quests/content to push us to 60 tokens week 1 for the first ensemble to keep that hype goin. Instead…we grinded all this crap up to bank for next week and Blizz succeeded in yet again annoying the playerbase with trash shadowlands style content time gating. 20 more tokens spread out across a weeks worth of daily quests would have likely kept things mostly quiet and players engaged…somebody would still be posting but id wager the flood would have been stemmed a good bit.

Not to mention it seems some people are not getting the Anniversary tokens from certain events/missions that WoWhead shows they do.
Currently my Delve weekly shows there is no token reward and i am at 43 for this week out of the possible 49 they claim on WoWhead. Yes i have not done the PvP ones so that counts as 5 of them. So how does the Delve one they claim to give 2 work, as these totals are not adding up. If i did all of them my tally would be 50.
A suggestion I’d like to throw into the mix here:
Let us exchange Timewarped Badges for Bronze Celebration Tokens.
The inverse is currently allowed.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Has blizz swooped in and hotfixed the currency to be reasonable like they should have rolled it out as and appended a "we heard your feedback blue troll post without an apology yet? Or is that still inc? lemme know

It’s a scam all right, except it’s to bump engagement numbers for investors. It is not AT ALL about the players, or they would just GIVE us things. Instead, we have to grind them - THEIR WAY, or pay money for our “rewards” - you know, for the game we bought, then bought expansions for, and also pay a monthly sub for.
In the least, they could have made it so EVERYTHING we do gives at least one piece of the currency.
