So i’ve been reading forums since the beta and a lot of people complained about stuff that is really annoying when playing monk specially WW monk
-WDP is hard to use due to his usable window
-Monk has many bugs like channels randomly canceling
-Shado-Pan’s flurry strikes is hard to proc, deals almost no dmg, etc
-among many others
But hey like 1~2 weeks before the xpac comes out max makes a video talking about WW and next day monks get all the changes they talked about in the video
During the race i was very optimistic about WW since it was performing really well, but after a while it started gravitating towards the bottom of the dps meters , and i thought oh well i guess that since Race to world first already ended we will see some class tunning fixing some issues with WW… But it’s been weeks and WW once again is getting forgotten, but hey at least they are buffing Fire Mage again, am i right?

WW at the bottom is nothing new. Exceptions exist, but WW more often than not, has occupied the bottom of charts. WW at the bottom for the expansion’s first raid is new though. Typically we have been a strong performer in the first raid, then receive nerfs and cry for the rest of the expansion.

It’s worth noting that, at least looking at raid data, Windwalker is in the bottom 3rd, but not “at the bottom”, with a handful of specs that are worse off, unless you select a fight or percentile to specifically show Windwalker at the bottom.
Beyond that, the gap from the top to bottom is around 11-12%, which is well within the range to be considered relatively balanced based on how things have been the last few years.
Windwalker is absolutely weaker than we all expected, not quite being as strong as we thought and other specs being stronger or getting some buffs. There just has to be some context to the colored bars beyond just looking at their order.

I’ve never understood the difficulty here, even during bouts of high haste. If you always just FoF>RSK, you have plenty of time to just push WDP.
This is getting love in 11.0.5. There will be an energy tracker as well as buffing the amount of damage it will do overall via a lesser energy requirement. It definitely doesn’t do “no damage” though, it pumps in AoE.
That being said, yeah WW is in a rough spot. I think tettles was the one who put it perfectly. “I think WW got their rework too early on.”
Which 100% feels true. It feels like this awful spot where it was reworked too early that it didn’t get “fully baked” to be viable enough, but was reworked recently enough that it won’t be looked at again in a long time.

A “pro” is part of the community. Some people have bigger voices. That’s part of life. Get used to it in life.

It’s more that we wanna fit in the juiced up BoK → RSK after the FoF → RSK, and if procs happen FoF gets reset and we dont fit it in. WDP isn’t hard to use, but it makes our XBG window tighter.
Only if you get the right wisdom of the wall buff. Otherwise, it’s quite tame in our damage profile.
WW is honestly one of the most fun to play specs, to me.
However, i think the window for WDP could be a few seconds longer and some overall tuning would be great.
WW feels GREAT, just need some tuning.
WW is fun to play however, it needs a few things:
- WDP should be on its own CD and allow you to avoid ground damage abilities (since you are hovering). I find myself getting hit a lot when i use WDP.
- With FoF being such an important ability to cast, fully, let Spear Hand Strike be cast without stopping FoF. I find myself having to cancel FoF too much for key interrupts.
- Increase all damage abilities by 5%. This would be an easy fix instead of trying to buff certain things.
- Give back the group healing and movement buff. WW has almost no group usefulness now.
- Return Touch of Karma to its original version…as a damaging and healing ability.
- FIX THE ISSUE THAT AUTO CANCELS SPINNING CRANE KICK!! Imagine if Bladestorm was canceling like that…it would probably be fixed immediately.

I’d rather Blizz go back and revert specific nerfs first before just doing flat buffs. The big nerfs to the spec tree during week 1 of DF pre-patch come to mind as well as some older grievances like.

twitch steamers get good buff but us none steamers dont get any that how world works
I’m not 100% sure what you’re saying, but I can assure you that the buffs to a spec affect everyone who play that spec, not just the people who stream.
WDP really just needs to be tied to Fist of Fury.
Just that alone would allow us to “bank” an ability for later use.
Also SHS during FoF would be awesome.
I mean only tied to FoF as opposed to both FoF and RSK
if blizz cares they mite end up with more lawsuit lol
I’d rather they change WDP by making it a timed activation ability, meaning every time RSK and FOF are both on CD you have 10s, 12s, etc. to use it before needing to retrigger it. That way an unlucky lucky CD reset proc doesn’t cause it to become unusable almost as immediately as it became usable.
The first thing they need to change with WDP is change it’s animation to Ken’s super - Shinryuken. When I think “whirling” dragon punch, that’s what I envision.
But yes, the trigger style is indeed very outdated.
WDP is fine
yeah the Channeling canceling bug is bad but its not only monk
I think shado-pan’s proc should be better i like to compare it to Sub rogue nimble furry which is better and less hard and better
I like the small rework we got but compared to all other class that got rework i guess we got Spit on.There so many way to improve Monk i Dont think we were ever that bad except maybe DF s2 but we got a buff 2-3 week into raid right now the only buff we know is flurry of xuen and Blackout kick 2 useless or low priority wont change nothing
Yea, but it never used to be a problem for us until Blizz changed it so we can’t take other actions during SCK.
It’s a mid “rework” at best.
