Overturned penalty - 12 month sub still canceled

Okay so Blizz banned my acct and canceled my 12 month sub. Then reversed the ban because they made a mistake , gave me a lame apology and went on their way. I get it mistakes were made it is blizz after all. I was not able to get the new sub mount because they canceled my sub when they mistakenly banned my account. Now blizz wants to charge me another $161.00 to my already active acct to restart the reoccurring sub they canceled. Not sure how to feel about that.

Have you opened a ticket about it?

You just made a thread about this, I get you want to complain but how about seeing if they will actually assist you first before doing so?

Already did

I’m not sure that there’s anything that can be done unfortunately. They can’t reactivate the sub for you. Any promotion has to be paid upfront. They probably can’t just give you the mount, that would likely cause issues later on when the sub renewed on its own.

The mount will still be there later if you want to wait to resub then.

But yes, a ticket would be the only way to see if they could do anything but in this instance I don’t think they can unfortunately.

They just told me they want me to pay another $161.00 up front so yeah ill be posting everyting to social media this time to let people know they want you to pay to fix their mistake. I think its time to publicly make blizz accountable

Do you still have time on your account? If you paid for a year, you should have time, just re-establish the sub, you won’t be billed until the time is gone.

They bill up front to resub even with game time active, They told me I would need to pay the $161.00 again up front

Are you sure? I didn’t get billed when I subbed for a year, I still had a month or so of time.

Yeah I am sure

Because there’s a reward attached for the yearly sub, it would force them to pay upfront.

There’s absolutely nothing that can be done via the forums though. I don’t believe that this is something that a GM can help with either, but the only way to be sure would be via a ticket.

Why wouldn’t they be able to fix this if the problem is caused by a mistake on their end? I am confused. It’s not OPs fault Blizzard banned them incorrectly

So, for billing issues you will need to open a ticket, there is nothing that can be done here, the blues can’t help you, and advice you will get will be limited. However the way suspensions typically work is they simply block access to WOW, they don’t cancel a subscription, now you would lose time that occurred during the suspension, but the account subscriptions remains active.

The only reason I think a subscription would have been canceled is per your interactions, either with you demanding they cancel the subscription and refund you, or where you perhaps submitted a chargeback, if you did this, you will have to resolve that issue, as its likely the funds were pulled from Blizzard, so you won’t have an actual subscription anymore.

My recommendation would be to actually validate if you have an open subscription that you paid for, and confirm that no money was returned to you. If you can confirm this, then reach out to Blizzard, however if the money was pulled back, then it will create additional obstacles which you will need to address, where hopefully you can simply just get a new subscription.

It isn’t that we wouldn’t want to, but there are limitations to how the 6 and 12 month subscription purchases work. There isn’t currently a way to simply renew the subscription because those are specifically associated with products, in addition to game time.

It is something that we’re looking into, but I don’t have any updates.

I sent this up for consideration, Ankleshots. You haven’t been given the ‘wrong’ answer so far - but that answer may be changing.

I know this is frustrating and seems unfair.

Please keep an eye on your email, policies around a situation like yours is shifting a bit - I think we’ll be able to get this sorted for you. Thankfully, your circumstance is very rare.

This is good to hear. Upon reading this, it does sound like a pretty severe crack that someone can fall through. Hoping this gets sorted for you, Ankleshots.

They actually do. Any Suspension longer than 2 weeks will automatically have the Sub cancelled so that it won’t bill again while the person can’t play. This is designed around 1 month subs obviously. The year sub and the rewards makes it a lot more tricky though. Cancelling it when it was already set up removes the rewards and adds an immediate payment fee to re-start it.

I think, based on what I am reading here, that maybe the team is re-thinking that and may be able to make some exceptions to restarting 1 year subs after a penalty.

You can find the info on cancelling Subs for Suspensions and bans on the Refund page (and probably other places too).

Subscriptions

We’ll refund any unused World of Warcraft subscription within 14 days of the purchase.

We won’t refund subscription time lost due to a suspension and/or permanent account closure. For permanent account closures and suspensions longer than 15 days, we will cancel upcoming recurring subscriptions.
