I think Blizzard is in deep trouble only if Diablo 4 and OW2 failed to deliver, and both game lose its game director recently.
A settlement is (almost) never an admission of guilt. Generally speaking your attorneys or legal people will insist on this, too, and demand that the settlement language doesn’t implicate you directly.
Not necessarily true. It could be the case of them not finding it worth the trouble.
Innocent until proven guilty. Blizzard wins!
Still waiting for your list of innocent companies that settled
Wake up
Not to mention that such a situation may be tantamount to saying “we understand that you feel this way, and we’re willing to compensate you, but we do not believe that this was our fault.”
In effect saying that you’re feelings might be valid, but that doesn’t mean that we’re at fault for how you feel.
Read the comments from Kotick. It’s a pretty clear admission of wrongdoing.
It may well be, but that doesn’t make a settlement, itself, an admission of wrong doing. That’s all I’m personally arguing.
$18mil USD…
WoW alone brings in over $300mil USD just from box sales, subs and in game sales…
Let that sink in…
Paying doesn’t mean much they just don’t want this to be dragged out in court. Theywant to sweep it under the rug
Problem is it opens the door for everybody and their uncle to sue them for whatever seeing a big payday
Learned that from the me to movement
But that movement and other movements like it came back to bite those people in the butt in the end because now nobody takes them serious and they ended up instead of a pay day looking like Peter Griffin
hey, civil law doesn’t involve guilty/not guilty verdicts.
Will you follow the
trophy in the USA that EA gave you for 2 consecutive years for being a worse company?
because if it continues like this, Blizzard will have this year.
This is true. There are SO MANY class action lawsuits routinely happening continuously every year, literally without end, and companies very often will settle without any clear admission of wrong doing. The cost of settling is simply cheaper and less embarrassing to companies than the enormous expense of extended litigation. It isn’t always about trying to prove their innocence so much as just needing to get it over with to minimize overall damage.
Wait until the SEC lawsuit when they fine Activision a few 100 million. Then the other lawsuits.
Of course they will.
It’s not like they’re just after your money or anything…
But yet the state one is still going on .
Bingo, this 18 million one was a quick settlement to the one that recently popped up.
11.6% of Kotick’s 2020 bonus. lol
