Blinded in the Maw

Whenever I go into gorgoa: river of souls, it literally blinds me. It is so bright and makes it physically uncomfortable to look at my screen. Now I realize that this is an area that thematically you aren’t supposed to want to go to, but the game keeps giving you quests to stand in there for long periods. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yeah River of Souls makes it difficult to see anything. I also get that it’s meant to be irritating. But damn. At least let us make some special goggles or something to deal with this, lol.

Yes, the visibility is very poor. That’s the point.

I have the same issue, I’ve found that pivoting my camera view as close to the ground as possible helps cut through some of the fog.

Try this and see if it helps:

Also a pro-tip: using the potion of inky darkness will remove the visual of the river entirely. The debuff still stacks but you can at least see.

I had no idea. This will help me immensely :ok_hand:t2:

Thank you! I will look into this! <3

Nooooooo.
It will be nerfed tomorrow

Why go out of the way to get a potion and download an add-on when this is actually painful to look at!? Why do blizzard do stuff like this? It’s painful! Are they trying to blind us? Can’t play while blind! Change is required! Do blizzard people even test what they design? doesn’t seem like it!

As much as I hate the maw, I understand it’s supposed to be this annoying. Perdition hold and it’s mob density of 50 elites per square orc is the worst. Especially because everyone is running around dragging mobs and randomly pull you into combat.

Please the river, compared to the Crysis blizzard, is a stroll through the park.

This seems to be the justification for EVERYTHING about the Maw.

“It’s meant to be hell!”

“You’re supposed to be blinded!”

“You’re meant to repeatedly get one-shot by elites when you can’t fight back!”

“It’s meant to take ages to go anywhere!”

“It’s intended to be a really, really, REALLY BAD TIME!!!”

So tell me Blizzard… why would I ever want to go there?

Ion saying that the Maw is going to be a big part of future patches just makes me want to check out and run old content. Which is probably why they nerfed our damage in old content.

Unless that’s part of the “hell”.

The Maw is probably the dumbest design decision I’ve ever seen the devs make in the decade I’ve been playing. Let’s make something so unpleasant and hostile to the players that they don’t want to go there (unless, presumably, they’re “harrrrdcorrre,” Wildstar-style…)

That is an awesome unit of measurement

You can also turn on night mode in windows or on your monitor (if it has it) this will wash out most of the blue and make it less annoying. And you can switch it right off again after you’re out.

That’s the point. You dont want to go there. You go because you need to.

I have to skip the quests in that part of the Maw because it always gives me a headache.

The entire zone of Ardenweald does that to me. The shade of blurple they used just sets off my astigmatism and questing for more than a half hour there guarantees a migraine.

Gorgoa and Bastion don’t but they are very bright, not surprised it’s bothering others.
