Blessed Hammer does not belong in ret tree

Edit after new talents emerged: Please just replace Blessed Hammer with a souped up CS talent, we have the talents to make it holystrike now for mastery scaling as well as cleave AND phys damage increase. All we need now is to make the useless blessed hammer into a CS that ACTUALLY trucks to compete with auto attack CS

I’m really happy with the first iteration of the tree but something I noticed right away was that the CS replacing your autos talent is way better than the blessed hammer one.

Blessed hammer (imo) has always felt bad to press and probably should be replaced by a talent that SIGNIFICANTLY increases crusader strike damage so it feels good to press. CS already has the supporting talents of cleaving so let’s let it actually feels good to press if you do not take Crusading strikes.

I play DH I know how this will play out if CS is not massively buffed in the choice node compared to the auto attack version.

Blessed hammer replaces consecration and is a 9 second duration.

Blessed hammer is the one that prot has that replaces crusader strike as well.

Question is. If you take Crusader that hit 4 target do you throw 5 hammer at once tough

Yes and I dont understand why they put it in there? Feels very very out of place.

Right? I think something that makes CS still CS should be there but make it feel good to hit instead of designing a core spell that is meant to just be thrown away.

Something like crusader strike is replaced by crusaders spear: launches a spear of holy light in front of you hitting all targets for x holy damage divided by enemies hit, generates hp. Short midrange and with a vertical marker like evoker spells idk.
Something if you want to actually press your cs and feel good about it

Even if it just made CS do holy damage it would be good. Then it would benefit from mastery and do much more damage.

Yeah Blessed Hammer feels really out of place in the ret tree. Hate it on prot as well.

They should let you choose between CS as auto or CS as radiant dmg not blessed hammer

Yeah anything that scales with mastery if not just a large damage increase equivalent to scaling with mastery would be great. We already have the cleave support talents next to it.

I’d love blessed hammer in the holy tree that replaces CS, does healing but no damage and generates. Basically the healing counterpart to CS.

I think it would make sense in holy much more than ret tbh

the choice node should be make CS holy damage (to benefit from mastery) vs replacing auto attacks imo.

EDIT: I should read further down before commenting lol.

I like Blessed Hammer on prot, being able to generate hp without a target is nice, but I agree it feels odd in the ret tree and is likely far less potent than crusading strikes if early tests are anything to go by.

You’re just jelly we getting a better looking immolation aura. Srry bud.

I rather not. Cause if you remove its dmg completely it wouldnt proc of avenging crusader who’s already not often used

That’s fine, if you play AC you wouldn’t take it then. If you play AC then CS already does a good amount of healing so you wouldn’t need blessed hammer. Blessed hammer would be the healing option for those who do not play AC

Blessed hammer is actually going to be absolutely bonkers in pvp if it stays.

Why?

Well BH essentially makes us fully ranged. We can spam BH to build HP without a target, FV has a 20 yard range with jurisdiction, 23 with Crusader aura, boj also with a 20 yard, and righteous cause resetting BoJ on FV casts.
