I’m reaching out to gather some support for a potential hotfix regarding the shoulder enchant, Blessed Flame Mantle of the Dawn.
As many of you know, the grind for Argent Dawn reputation is quite tedious, particularly in a game designed to promote multiple alt characters. Having to repeat this grind across several characters feels punishing.
It seems fitting to make this enchantment bind on account or allow it to function similarly to the Hydraxian Coronation, which can be applied via the trade window?
I think these changes could significantly improve the quality of life for many players. I’d appreciate any feedback or support you regarding this. Maybe we can get some traction on this request!
Most players I know play only one character. And even on that one character they don’t grind rep for that. This is one of the things that people can achieve that gives them an extra edge. Those things are appealing to some players. So leave it like that. There are very little things like this left.
Have to? No, you don’t have to. Not even close. There is way better ways to get fire resistance. Stop acting like you are entitled to full bis without playing the game at all. Don’t enjoy the grind? Then don’t do it. It doesn’t matter. And before people start: No, you don’t have to do Heat 3. And even if you want to, this is not a requirement to get invited either.
Some advice if you really really want it: Find friends who want to join that grind and who you like spending time with. And then just play the game.
This is an unusual anecdotal case, alt characters are far from uncommon in this version. I recall game designers commenting when introducing the experience buff that they intended it to allow for more players to experience the class changes of SoD on multiple characters.
Exactly, it does give an extra edge, if most players you know aren’t enticed enough to do it on even one character doesn’t that suggest the effort is marginal enough and therefore befitting of ease of access after completing at least once.
While I agree somewhat with the problem outlined I disagree with the solution. It does strike me as odd that Blessed Flame Mantle of the Dawn was added this phase and placed at Exalted with Argent Dawn. Other incentives for exalted with this faction do not appear until later in the phase cycle and come alongside the addition of less tedious ways to achieve said Exalted reputation.
In this case it seems likely that the Blessed Flame Mantle of the Dawn was misplaced in terms of reputational requirements. The level of reputation that would reasonably be achieved at this phase of release is revered. Considering the relatively small scale of the buff provided by the Blessed Flame Mantle of the Dawn, and other similar changes made to items in SoD, it seems like this upgraded version of Flame Mantle of the Dawn should have been available right at revered.
Perhaps as a compromise this could be dropped to revered but a turn-in quest could be added to unlock it. It could be something simple like 25 argent dawn valor tokens and some sort of fire based ingredients. Then, as other resistance types become necessary, their accompanying “Blessed” versions could be added at revered with a similar quest. Eventually at exalted there could be a similar quest to provide a Blessed Chromatic Mantle of the Dawn.
I’m at 12,000 / 21,000 towards exalted. As I type this I’m healing my pet up between pulls on one of the cauldron farms. Even if they decided to lower the rep values to revered I’d likely already have exalted for the shoulder enchant. It does not change the fact that it was strangely placed with the pacing of Argent Dawn rep this phase and in future phases. I will continue to advocate for the proper placement of this enchant even if it will not benefit me. Good game design is not a handout.
Please don’t put words in my mouth. While I believe the placement of Blessed Mantle of the Dawn at Exalted instead of Revered was a mistake, I do not believe it rises to the level of bad design. If I thought SoD was a badly designed or unfun game I would not be playing it. I certainly wouldn’t be posting suggestions for minor improvements. If you feel that poorly about the game maybe it would be best to find something else to do?
I can agree, BoA would have a negative impact on the consistency scholo/strath are run.
I think a revered placement for the enchant would be reasonable.
