I have a quick simple question. Would anybody run expiation for pvp or mythics over blaze of light. I keep testing it to see if it’s better than blaze of light but I can’t see to get clear results. Expiation is the talent that increases shadow word: death and mind blast damage by. 30% and triggers 6 second of our dot. Blaze of light increases penance bolts and smite casts by 15% damage.
Well Blaze should be the play because you will be using a LOT of smites and penances with the Teir set so it should outweigh the occasional mind blast etc. Having said that i do like when it gave us a big chunky SWD that could bring the entire party from almost dead to full when hit in execute rang
Yeah, the three main reasons Expiation is dead right now are
- The tier set makes Smite higher value.
- Mind Blast’s cooldown got increased a lot when it got combined with Schism.
- We now have to sink 3 points into Void Summoner line with how powerful it is (so we have less points in the bottom tree)
Expiation will get better to use when TWW comes out and we have the Voidweaver line which will want to cast more SW:D.
Expiation is borderline useless because Mind Blast has a long cooldown. It also has the annoying dot eating mechanic so you need to refresh your dots.
Blaze of Light is literally a flat dps/hps increase of 10%+ because all you cast is Smite and Penance 80%+ of the time. Also, with the tier set bonus you double smite with Shadow Covenant so yeah…
