Yet another FF14 vs WoW thread, in which I bash neither one.
I’m playing FF14. It’s…nice. I like the flexibility it has in how to play. I like the cut scenes. I love the mini- (and maxi-) games (except for Lord of Vermillion). I even paid for the full version (when it went on sale).
But while leveling, it doesn’t have the vibrancy of WoW. Maybe it’s the mostly lack of Voice Acted NPCs. Maybe it’s that there isn’t that much real world combat until you seek it out. Maybe it’s just not different enough. Maybe it’s just that I’m not max level.
I’m not ready to write-off either game right now, though. I’m still doing Korthia dailies, and raiding with my guild, and some mythics and torg, although the last two not as much. And I’m still working on the main scenario line in FF, and now that I’m a real boy, maybe take advantage of some of the giveaways people are doing.
But the arguments about the community, well, all I can say is that it’s going to vary wildly depending on time and who’s on. And neither one is swaying me - except the forums. WoW forums almost want me to give up on the game.
