Blacksmithing

I plan on making a warrior but can’t figure out if it’s reaaaaally worth it to become a blacksmith. A lot of the allure I have for it is obtaining some of the high end plans like lionheart helm and strongarm gauntlets. However I can’t play 24/7 so I expect there to be plenty of people with the plans already. At the same time there will be a billion warriors who all need those items so maybe it will even out.

Whats your opinion still worth it? What other gold making ventures does blacksmithing really have aside from those. I’m also taking into account the sheer cost of leveling BS is pretty high in itself.

engineering/mining or engineering/herbalism. blacksmith is a waste.

Going to do mining for sure maybe even mining / tailoring, but really would like to be swayed into viable reasons to go BS because it’s always something I wanted to do but ended with other professions in classic.

tailoring is equally a waste. blacksmith is a huge waste of time.

There is not much in the way of BOP gear so you could easily get another blacksmith to make gear for you but there is an element of RP to classic wow, so If you enjoy making your own gear go for it.

But as Cardi B says… git those bags.

I was a BS in vanilla til I started raiding. Then I realized the drops were better than what I could make so I switched to Alchemy so I always had pots.

BS won’t be a huge money maker if you can’t get in the desired markets early, but the same is true for all crafting profs. If you’re starting classic with a warrior I would recommend BS if you don’t intend to power level. It’s not too expensive to level if you do lots of mining (and i really do mean lots), and without an established economy with lots of readily available gear for sale warriors will be hurting for upgrades.

If you plan to min/max or are even a little serious about PvP, then engineering is a far better profession to have even though it is significantly more expensive to level. If you are of a more casual mindset or enjoy RP, than smithing is the obvious choice for a warrior.

You can do it if you want for fun, but the most lucrative and effective professions are Engineering (as it’s just that useful in PvE and especially in PvP) and Alchemy (always needed, copious amounts of consumables, and a good money maker throughout the game).

It’s not a waste of time. Lionheart Helm is BiS until AQ. Course someone else can make it for you, but i for one feel a great sense of sastifaction of wearing the armor i sent out to farm and craft. Also warriors are super gear dependent, so having a prof that makes good gear for you will make leveling a bit easier.
