When Phase 4 launched, I grabbed Armorsmithing quest and was going to do it for the xp. Also thought I wanted to go AS thinking maybe I’ll like the new gear. Didn’t end up liking it. Googled about 1,000 times “How to switch specialization for BS”. Nothing came up other than drop and re-learn. So I did. Re-bought 300 levels worth of mats and then learned Weaponsmith at 225 I think. Except this time it just gave it to me. No quest.
A couple days later, I gather the proper axe recipes I want and get to 300. I visit Winterspring where you choose your specialization by accepting a quest from the specific spec NPC. Or so I thought. When I got in the room, there were no ! for quests. All 3 said “All you need to do is ask and I shall teach you xxxxx” So, I thought oh, I just need to prompt them to get the quest acceptance part. So at the time, I was talking to the Master Swordsmith guy, and I thought no big deal - I just want to see if can see all the quests from each one, and clicked the prompt. Boom. “You’ve learned the ability Master Swordsmith”.
Hello? Where’s the quest? This is stated in 100’s of guides that you are to do the quest for the recipe, then you get taught the respective specialization. Also where is the “Are you sure you want to learn Master Swordsmith?” so this doesn’t happen? So now I’m stuck as sword spec. You can’t report professions. So I’m just screwed again and have to re-learn for a 3rd time? Or can someone help me out here.
I keep hearing or seeing that there’s something coming to swap, but I want to play the game and be ahead with recipes. If I have to wait 2 weeks for an update, then what’s the point.
Yeah currently seems to be no way to change ur blacksmithing specialization
That is bizarre as I had to do a quest in Lower Blackrock Spire in order to gain Master Axesmithing.
Didn’t get a real answer for this happening. But I did get somewhat of a response from a GM. Currently there is no way to swap without re-leveling. There is supposedly a way to swap “coming” but who knows when that will come.
GM’s Response:
“According to the information that we have Blacksmith characters will be able to swap their specialization between Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing, after phase 4, but currently this is unknown on when it will occur.”
“Support will be unable to swap the profession specialization for you.”
Iirc there is a gnome in tanaris that could help you, i cant remember totally how his thing works so it might still be specced
It also appears you’re meant to learn multiple specializations as weaponsmith, I have hammer and sword, but cannot get the axe.
I went to Everlook, picked up the quest for swordsmithing, and then did it. When I came back to turn it in, I could also pick up the Hammersmithing quest and I did that as well, turned it in, got both.
Was this your first time doing any specialization? If so, then if you switch from Armor to Weapon like I did, you CANNOT get both. Cause I tried to get both. Couldn’t.
I did not swap specializations, I was always weaponsmithing.
I cannot complete the sword mastery quest and the item does not drop
was there anything special you did to get the item to drop for master sword smith? the item will not drop and it seems bugged
No. I just spawned the dude in UD Strath and looted the body.
came to find out… some 1 in the group wasn’t looting the mob… the 4 times we ran it… and im telling them loot the mob loot the mob lol. i finally got it with another group… seems group 2 had brains
