Blacksmithing patron orders still need a major review, too many reagents required

Going to let this screenshot do the initial talking here:

I constantly get patron orders for blacksmithing that look like this with nothing provided by the NPC, even after the supposed fixes that came in 11.0.5 or some hotfix before it which were intended to taper down on issues like this. Other orders which come in partial also leave off alloys far more often than not.

It’s already rough enough that blacksmithing is going to take at least one full month longer than every other profession to max out knowledge on, but this continues to push that timeline back even further. Only whales are going to pay the price to fill these orders regularly for the spec points.

Yeah they’re terrible, man. I logged onto my BS last night and checked the patron orders. 10 out of the 12 that were on there were for epic gear, with absolutely insane reagent requirements. It’d have cost me over 25k gold to do them and I’d have gotten like 10 KP and some acuity. If they actually did implement any fixes they need to add more.

Granted the costs of the alloy in the AH is gross, but what prevents you from making em? Tinderboxes prices are slowly creeping up as more peoples leave the delves, but compared to the start of exp? Bargain! Exchange for em, vendor is right next to the bs table. Make your alloys, boost your multicraft anyway you can ( and bs has ways for that) and keep a stock. Doesn’t need to be r3 either.

It honestly comes down to how much, or in this case how little, you get for what you put out. Making the alloys is easy enough, I’ve definitely done that. However, when the order is requiring 2500g worth of mats (whether bought or made) and you only get like 60g, 2 KP and sometimes a little bag of stuff that kind of sucks. Now if it was something like 5 KP for an epic craft that would make it a bit less unpleasant.

Nooo, you should never make them. They are way underwater. Also, they are only 209.99 g for R2 (and about the same for R1). They cost 267.23 g to make. cries I was an alloy maker all through DF… so sad…

LUCKY!!! I want!!! Gib me.

I feel this so hard. It’s terrible! I went from making 2-4 k on these to now… breaking even. NOOOO!! My merchant heart is breaking!!! Why did you have to make tinderboxes so available Blizz, why? I was making so much gold…I used to be so excited for blacksmithing patron orders every week. >.> Now I’m just going to set my catch-up to zero like all the other ones… :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

Uh When I looked earlier before my post, the R2s were not that cheap… Or maybe they were ? Anyway! Bought a stack! Should see me trough few WOs! 50 of em cost me 11k or so… Wheres the 25k? I dunno. I do not expect to make gold or break even with patron’s WOs. lol Almost trough the armor slots! Free repairs will be mine!!

BUUUUTTT … With 49% resourcefulness, the highest of all the crafters? And all those juicy expensive reagents for the taking? AND augment runes selling for 2k??

The casino can be calculated in your favor, based on what is given and what is required! The blacksmithing patron order casino! You don’t win all the time, but if you play smart, you can make the average result positive! So much fun!

Of course, the result is that your winnings put alloys underwater, but oh well. If you can’t win one way, you gotta play a different way.

Ya that is the thing with more included mats in the patron’s: I would be waiting for em with my stout resource tool, ignitions and a stack of tampered frames at the ready! There’s a pots for it too? Then the cries of the alloy makers would drown us all!

It would be GLORIOUS!

Not a pot, a phial. It only works during “winter”. Er. But currently it is “winter”. At least according to this phial. … And if you’re FAST in selecting your casino orders, you can make this one phial last for weeks!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Just now I made a thing for like 3 core alloy (R1s that I picked up off the ground hooray) in exchange for 1 augment rune, which I sold for 2.1 k. And then I did an epic thing and resourcefulness proc’d on every single mat. Holy crap. I love this casino so much.

Aside from the fact I can’t reach 49% with a resource tool and max Everburning Forge with the buff active, imagine having resourcefulness (or multicraft, for that matter) actually proc at the rate it states.

My other professions seem fine but my rates have never matched what’s listed for blacksmithing. So no matter how I play it, it is an underwater profession.

You will not make bank with patron’s, well maybe when you got the ignition tab mostly filled and you got access to the good frames and the pots are in season. BUT! When you start crafting for others, no need for price gouging or that free for your mats non-sense. Stick to a fee and offer your services when someone calls. My BS does make deposits into the band’s bank. I am not sugar coating it, BS is a bword to level/KPs. But my alts are covered for the exp now and soon the master’s hammer will be in full effect.

It’s 48.4% if you wanna be absolutely strict lol. Here’s how:

-resourcefulness tool
-resourcefulness enchant
-resourcefulness from tree
-resourcefulness from everburning ignition
-resourcefulness from phial (linked in previous post)
-resourcefulness from ignition satchel
-resourcefulness from tempered framework R3 (one of my blacksmiths devotes all their concentration to making these for cheap)

But I get ya, that change to tinderboxes made the odds of winning the patron orders casino much worse… But at least you can knock off some of the cost if nothing else. And the ignition and phial can be carried over for many many orders.

So . Today I made around 10k from patron orders. Mostly from selling augment runes, but hey, it only took me 1 minute per crafter.

Keep in mind that resourcefulness from tree IS linked to everburning ignition. So if you fill that wheel and do not use the ignition, that’s a bunch of KPs not doing a thing for you.

Yeah I guess I should have combined those two lines XD

I only run one of each profession, so the augment runes each week are only barely enough to cover what blacksmithing adds to the total cost especially with ironclaw alloy now becoming a bottleneck reagent due to it being needed the most for recrafts. That’s the line I draw.

Yeah I agree those ironclaw alloys are a pita …I feel like those should give 2 alloys not just one given how much is needed. It takes 2 core alloy to make, so why does it only make 1…it’s an affront to the laws of physics I tell you!!!

If I didn’t have thaumaturgy filling my vault with bajillions of bismuth and cloth and storm dust it would be so much more painful…
