Blacksmith unable to use enchanted Weathered Harbinger Crests

I’m trying to figure out if I’m ignorant or if encountering a bug.

I want to craft a blue item (Dredger’s Plate Sabatons) on my blacksmith and add a crest to improve the item level. I already got the enchanted version using my enchanter, but when I go to craft the item, it doesn’t appear as a possible reagent.

I was doing this fine on my other crafters, so I don’t understand why it’s not being recognized as being in my bags when I go to craft now.

What was the item? Are you certain it was a combat item and not a tool?

Do you have the ability to click on that slot and see the list of items that you can put in? Or is that slot locked by a specialization requirement?

Edit to add: What kind of crest? Only weathered is for blue items, Runed and Gilded are for Epic crafts.

You said a blue item, so the issue isnt a spark. I would defer to Kiyoko’s response then on if you have the item unlocked

The Item is Dredger’s Plate Sabatons.

The reagents slots are unlocked, but when I click on it, the crests don’t appear. If I tell it to hide unavailable, it gives me the screen saying I have no available reagents.

What enchanted crest are you trying to use?

You can’t use crests on those, those are the base level crafting stuff.

The armor you can use crests on you have to specialize for.

I believe that isn’t strictly true. One should be able to use the sigils, as well as the Enchanted Weathered crest to upgrade those blue items. It’s only epic items using sparks that can use the higher crests, but enchanters can make a weaker one that puts the items at a level closer to adventurer track.

That said, another question: Is your blacksmith the one equipping this item or are you using a personal work order?

If you tell us the item name it is easier than naming “blue item”.
It works for anything except the ALGARI items.

I was able to use crests for non-spark armor on my tailor and LW, why can’t I do it here for my BS?

I wouldn’t know, I have it open for me in my Blacksmith, and I am not specialized into armor yet (Weaponsmith only).

If it is in the inventory of the one using the item (patron if you are using a work order, crafter if you are making it for your BS) it should be showing up. If doing a work order, it must be provided by the character sending in the order. Make sure you claimed it from the mail, and if it is still not showing up, try doing a full UI reset (linked to Blizzard’s article)

https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/300544#:~:text=Open%20the%20World%20of%20Warcraft®%20folder.&text=Rename%20the%20Cache%2C%20Interface%2C%20and,the%20changes%20can%20take%20effect.

Beyond that, I would recommend asking on the Customer Support forums. While the staff there aren’t GMs, I have observed that they can sometimes help and check things like inventory or quests to perhaps point towards what may have happened.

My BS is the one equipping the item.

I used my enchanter to get me the enchanted chests via work order.

Now they are in my bags, and I expected they would come up when I went to craft the blue item.

I see. In that case, as I mentioned just above (sent at about the same time as yours, my apologies) I would suggest a UI reset and then if that doesn’t work, perhaps try the customer support forums, someone there may be more knowledgable than I am or a staff member may be able to better identify the issue.

Bro do the following:

  1. Open your blacksmith tab.
  2. Select “Recraft Equipment” it is the top choice in the list.
  3. Add your boots
  4. go to the 3rd slot in the optional reagents that shows
  5. Select your crest

If it doesn’t work, post a screenshot, because I can’t visualize the problem you’re reporting.

Ah, I stand corrected. I logged onto my BS and see the option to use a Weathered Crest in crafting Dredged stuff. OP do you have specialization unlocked in Armorsmithing for the gear piece you’re trying to craft? You need at least the first node unlocked in Large Plate Armor to be able to use the empower slot.

Welll … believe it or not, you are my hero.

Why does it only appear on the THIRD slot??!!??

Ah, I see. There are three slots for crafted items: Stats, Embellishment, and Level. On PvP pieces it is only Stats and Embellishment since the Heraldry used in place of sparks determine the level.

Glad that you got it working though!

  • First slot is always Missive
  • Second slot is always: Embelishment
  • Third slot is always Crest

Except:

  • Embelishment items that have only 1 slot for crest
  • PvP items that have only 2 slots for Missive and Embelishment.
