Blackout Combo not used?

Any particular reason why? I think the talent is great. I’ve been using it so long it kinda feels wierd not to use it. Using it on Breath of Fire is both offensively and defensively a plus. Using it on celestial brew gives you as pre-stack of 3 purified charges to set up your next bubble. Toss it onto every other keg smash for more cooldown reduction…

Some guides say use it. Some say don’t. I personally like it for a lot of the reasons you say, so I use it but the Brew tree is tight and that point has to come from somewhere.

I use personally and love it. I tried to spec into tiger palm and counterstrike but BOC always sims higher in dps and I just like it better.

What are you stealing the talent point from? If I had to pick I suppose I’d pick Bountiful Brew, but I don’t know how much DPS that yields.

Last I heard, it was bugged.

Yeah it was 100% bugged when DF went live, it did not pause stagger at all, and I just haven’t tried it since then. I honestly forgot about it.

it still doesn’t afaik but that’s generally one of the least used combo’s so it’s not a huge downside.

I’m not sure I never use that combo haha. Tiger palm works. Breath of fire. Keg smash.

Still, the fact a talent node we reported a few times in Beta, is still not fixed in live game, should tell us all we need to know about how much the dev’s care about monk.

This is the correct answer. Boc is pretty decent but the tree is so tight with points it’s hard to justify taking it.

The justification for taking it ultimately is for its defensive value, because the other talents offered with regard to damage dealing perform better, and in terms of its defensive value, it hasn’t seemed all that needful to me, at least as far up as I’ve gone in M+, just north of 2500 rating. And even past that point, it wouldn’t do much to mitigate the situations that are genuinely scary. We also have a large variety of CDs.

I find High Tolerance to be meh and grab BOC and Chi Surge. The general rotation should be breath of fire then either spinning crane kick or blackout kick, depending on if there’s four more targets then blackout kick if you didn’t use it yet, then keg smash. This allows purifying brew took cool down by six seconds versus four, and then you can run celestial brew 20 to 25 seconds.

The problem is you have typically two floating points of which people usually put in the high tolerance which is a defensive ability. While Blackout combo is primarily used to reduce purifying brews cool down by an additional 33%, throwing the other point into chi surge adds more DPS as well. But remember you can use your blackout combo on breath of fire too.

I mean there’s still bugs exist in the class that have been reported since mop, are we that surprised?

I mean I run boc on my monk lol. I’m just answering op why no one advises it in guides.

I think it’s listed as a optional for your last 2 points.

Sorry but I’ve always had higher damage sims using BOC than I have with counterstrike build. Spec in DFB and empower every BOF.
