Blacklist Alternative

As an alternative to the old blacklisting system of just down voting a battleground, allow us to add specific battleground/epic battleground in the place of the down voted one. I don’t like wintergrasp but I do like warsong gulch. Allow me to make substitutions

We should just vote on one of three or four maps when the queue pops like they do in GW2. The one with the most votes is most likely to be the pick but it’s not a guarantee. Solid system imo.

The problem with voting is people would still leave if the bg they dislike gets chosen.

The problem with blacklisting is that most of the horde would simply remove whichever two BGs they lose most often and alliance would do the same, causing four different BGs to almost never occur, even for the players that do like them. Queue times may climb as well.

No system is perfect. At least the voting system gives everyone a fair shot to choose the map.

From what I hear from the rbg community everyone will just blacklist seething shore

99% horde and alliance would down vote Seething Shore.

I think they should try to put in a system that automatically downvotes the maps that you’ve recently played, so that you’d be more likely to get the maps you haven’t just done.

There are a couple maps that I might blacklist again if I could, but I’d be less likely to do that if I knew that I wouldn’t be getting them back-to-back.

I don’t mind doing Seething Shore or Silvershard every once in a while, but it’s annoying to get them repeatedly without getting the maps that I really like.

Just let us blacklist 1 normal BG and 1 epic BG.

Who cares if some don’t get played. The least popular BGs shouldn’t be in the game anyway. That’s precisely why Strand is no longer in it. Let us vote with the blacklist and explain to them that others should be too.

Id definitely blacklist EoTS. The non rated version is just a terrible map.

Why is your game time more important than people who do want to play those maps…?

The blacklist system is a self-fulfilling prophecy and a lot of people for it fail to see the bigger picture with their suggestions. As an example, if it came back:

  • Safe to assume Wintergrasp and Seething Shore would be the most blacklisted.
    — Blizzard responds to this, and removes the above two.
  • Ashran and Deepwind Gorge then become the most blacklisted.
    — Blizzard responds to this, and removes the above two.
  • Isle of Conquest and Silvershard Mines then become the most blacklisted.

and so on and so forth. A blacklisting system doesn’t solve any problems. Wintergrasp was considered to be the game’s best outdoor PvP zone. The battleground version falls short of it. Blacklisting doesn’t fix that playing offense sucks. We should be advocating for them to fix the problems to make them more fun, rather than telling them we want them gone.

Agreed bring it back

I am in favor of this just so I don’t have to play wintergrasp or ashran any more.

Since strands is gone, I don’t mind the normal BGs.

I think it would be seething shore and Ashran.

They could then just not get rid of them to prevent what you said.

I don’t think there is any way to make Ashran fun. I don’t even like it when I’m winning. The gameplay where melee can’t do anything (but death grip) and casters just spam abilities is trash even by like 1980s standards. Pong is more engaging than Ashran.

Quantity over quality is a lousy game design strategy. It was a decision made during BfA when that’s how they made decisions.

I got great news for you. You never have to play WG or Ashran again!
Specific queue.

Its been multiple expansions since I used specific queue but you then lose out on bonus honor correct?

And conquest.

Yes, the major flaw with “just queue specific” is that gear is tied to conquest. And of course, queuing “random” battlegrounds awards significantly more honor (also tied to gear/upgrades) than specific-queue.

The average general public/casual player would just lose interest in bgs altogether without a reward - no reward would absolutely cause participation to tank, let’s be honest here.

The players that play bgs “just for fun” are the minority, most players expect to be compensated when they do content.

Yes.
The bonus is specifically for queuing randoms. If you’re eliminating BGs from the pool of random maps then you don’t deserve bonus Honor.
The solution to your dislike of BGs is already in the game. Queue specifics.

Oh yeah I agree the rated version is much better. IMO they should make non-rated eots the same as the rated version
