Great, there are High Elf Wayfarers in Telogrus Rift.
You may like it or not, you may find it logical or not, but that’s the way it is.

With no explanation of where they came from. Did they came from dalaran? Did they came from the horde loyalist high elf groups? You guys just assume they came from the groups that refused to suck on mana and call it a day without thinking it’s a super major plot hole
So, can you name me one High Elven group on the Alliance that actually does suck on mana as you so dedicatedly like to put it?
Or are you going to continue down the notion of the headcanon that you keep bringing up, and acting like High Elven customisations are lore breaking?
I’m not assuming anything.
All I’m saying is that there are High Elves joining the Void Elves.
I guess some of those who refused to mana tap from living beings either stayed where they were, came back to Silvermoon or joined the Void Elves.
Wanting to control the Void for the benefit of your people and faction and refusing to mana tap living beings are not mutually exclusive.
Far as I know only the Highvale swore off magic.
All other high elves just didn’t drain magic from living beings. They did need sources of magic to get through the drought during the time the Sunwell was down.
That said, because of the Highvale anyone can make their high elfs story that they didn’t…
Brae is right though we have no information on where the wayfarers are coming from.
Also they share these words with the Scholars…
“We need no longer fear exile for the pursuit of knowledge.”
“A path long denied to us is open at last.”
The high elves coming to the Telogrus Rift clearly do not fear the path they’ve set upon.
I know the Highvale Elves have, but honestly, I haven’t heard anything really on the rest of the Alliance High Elves on whether they completely went off, or whether they drain it off creatures or not. I can’t find any information anything, in game or on the internet.
Got to give him for credit for that, yes, but one thing we do know is the High Elf Wayfarers have to be coming from somewhere, and it has to be the one of the Alliance High Elven groups.
Does it have to be?
They don’t give us any information. Could be neutral or just high elves that had returned to Quel’thalas.
Doesn’t really matter either… Where they come from is far less important than they’re there…
(I still want that lore that shows them becoming void elves dammit.)
They would have to be Alliance. I mean think about it for a second:
Any High Elves that did return to Quel’thalas to rejoin with the Blood Elves, would they keep there old racial name as High Elf, despite the Blood Elves renamed themselves to Blood Elves for a reason.
And are there any groups of High Elves anywhere around Azeroth that is neutral to both Horde and Alliance.
Because when you look at it, you have the Silvermoon Scholars in there, as to the High Elves Wayfarers, and we mostly know that the High Elves are mainly with the Alliance (Except Blood Elves). The Silvermoon Scholars could be there to represent the Horde Elves joining the Void Elves as to the High Elf Wayfarers could be there to represent the Alliance Elves joining the Void Elves.
I agree with your post. This part here, though - do you think High Elves returning to Quel’thalas would keep that racial tag, considering how it’s almost offensive to Blood Elves?
Again, we have no lore in this regard, any of us could be right, I just think it would be strange for High Elves who were exiled from Silvermoon to return to Silvermoon and keep identifying themselves as such instead of Blood Elves with no consequences at all. I imagine they would at the very least be frowned upon.
If only Blizzard could acknowledge the huge amount of players who are fans of Thalassian lore and deliver us Thalassian content… We really need a lore update reflected in game.
Exactly, that’s how I see it too.
The irony of this post… LMAO im in tears.
This person prob refers to their Grade 1 color charts as references.
Gonna answer both since this is more or less the same question.
I think it’s possible on two fronts.
We know Lor’themar accepts returning high elves and that many also make a pilgrimage to the Sunwell.
It’s fairly reasonable that some may choose to return to the homeland.
While there is plenty of social pressure to take the blood elf name, it’s perfectly possible some are stubborn. We see things like this in real life.
Even more likely that those will decide “you know what? This isn’t working I’m going to SW”.
Is that going to be common? Nah.
But I do think it’s possible.
Second option.
A high elf who returned home took up the blood elf name got unhappy and left to the Rift and just changed their name back to high elf.
Many in Dalaran. Keep in mind they’re not all SC.
I think we can all agree it’s less could and more a does.
But with a lack of info there isn’t any sensible reason they also cannot break those molds a bit.
What if the scholars are from the Scryers?
You can find places many of them come from.
I agree, but the potential is still there and these elves are already doing something considered… Taboo.
If they could clarify how new void elves are made… In game. Where players can see it…
While they’re at it.
This could be the case, yeah, haven’t thought about it.
Yes please, I don’t need cinematics or questlines. Just a short event in Telogrus Rift, where (imagine) Void Elves gather and infuse new recruits with Void energies, turning them into Void Elves with random customizations.
Similar to the event in Silvermoon City with those two Blood Elves who are trying to rally other elves against their new alliance with the Horde, and end up being mind controlled by another Blood Elf.
Thank you fen, your answers to them would had been basically been the same answers I would given them. We simply do not have the info needed to determine where they came from, if anything they could had been neutral elves that always resided in dal that never choose a side.
I hope it comes with a revamp of the area to show we’ve established buildings and expanded to the third fourth and fifth larger islands.
An edifice that secures and stabilizes the Void Storm to use as a source of Void Essence for new recruits. Have the event there showing them going through a ritual with a note about how its after their training.
Also want them to show elsewhere Wayfarers and Scholars actively learning and demonstrating that they’re gaining skill.
Plus in this case whether you’re interested in void elves or high elves you have the best of both worlds.
It would explain how more void elves are made and hopefully show them coming out with any number of void elf customization options.
And it would allow people to play high elves still in training without having any issues. Might assist those having issues accounting for EE in some cases.
This is one fact I don’t want Blizzard to clarify for the Wayfarers and Scholars. The ambiguity of “Where” they came from is a great strength for our player agency.
It allows us to determine our origin for our void elves.
Indeed, while I do not agree with natural tones, this ambiguity can lead to allot of rp stories to be created. One could choose from any elf history, including the group in ratchet (a group of high elves loyal to the horde) for example.
I simply disagree with the core alliance high elf group that refused mana tapping for an energy source to keep their integrity with it.
Are the 2 of you forgetting that the customisations were added to allow people to actually play as a High Elf, not just a Void Elf in training?
Black and white I understand but brown?!!
It isn’t just not voidy, it’s not even elfy.
I am quite sure fen covered that well. Unless your trying to start a fight Sara?
No…
Nothing will stop someone playing a high elf. We’re just talking about lore for void elves…
These are not one over the other Sara.
Void Elves deserve lore for how they’re made and high elves are still easily playable…
I don’t really see where you got that from?
I still am in the core belief that the future for playable high elves is going to be through half elves though, lol
