Killed illidan in regular black temple, didnt use a DoT to kill him was direct damage on my monk. I let him finish his little rp at the end and finished him off and he had no loot and no mail from postmaster. Submitted a ticket and was told to report the bug eventhough this has been an on going issues for years and it hasnt been fixed.

This just happened to me as well.
The known issue is that you won’t get loot if you leave after beating him but before letting the conversation finish. I let the conversation finish and still didn’t get anything.
I don’t know if this applies to you, but I did it on a bunch of characters and there was one thing that was different on the character that didn’t get the loot compared to the characters who did.
Since I was doing it on a bunch of characters, I was alt-tabbing during any of the segments you have to wait. On the character who didn’t get loot, I realized that I was alt-tabbed during the segment where Maiev frees you from the stun and you get to hit Illidan one last time. My character was still there, but I didn’t do anything.
I’m wondering if it’s some sort of tagging issue. That during the conversation the tags get reset, and if you don’t hit him during that last moment he counts as defeated but you don’t have a tag on him anymore.
