Hello, I’m having an issue that is only happening with WoW. I have the latest Graphics card drivers, I actually did a clean install with this new driver. It won’t let me post a picture of whats happening but any help is appreciated.
You could put the screenshot up on Imgur or similar site. I use postimage.org myself. Provide the url address - simply break the link so you can paste.
Lets take a look at a DXDiag report as well.
The second section of page has DXDiag report instructions - we don’t require the MSinfo report.
That will be a wall of text. If you have issues pasting on the Forum here go ahead and put it up on pastebin.com. Provide the link code portion of the URL - example below.

The forums are telling me I can’t include links in my post… which is odd. I’ll put a space between the .com since it won’t let me post links.

Hey Worgitout,
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)
It looks like your Windows is a few versions behind. Try manually checking for updates by going to Start → Settings → Updates & Security and update until you have none left.
I would also suggest trying to switch to DirectX 11 to see if that makes the problem go away, if updating Windows doesn’t do the trick.
Use the -d3d11 command and steps from this link
So I tried updating windows and switching to DX11. Now my screen is flickering black.
The picture looks like it was taken from a camera. Does the problem show up in a regular screenshot? If it doesn’t appear in screenshots, then we may want to look into swapping the display cable.
So I tried taking a video and it doesn’t appear in the video. The video actually prolongs before it happens. I don’t know if it would be the display cable because it only happens in World of Warcraft. Every other time its fine.
EDIT:
In the base game I disabled add-ons and nothing… same business but I did download the PTR and it works flawless. No black lines, no flickering… it worked like before. I guess I’ll let my sub lapse until 8.2 so I can play the game like normal.
Would recommend testing with just the 60 Hz monitor connected. If its not showing up in videos or screenshots, then this may be a refresh rate issue.
So I did push the game over to my 60hz panel and it seems to stop the lines. I’m just confused as to what’s going on. Like I said, I tried the PTR and it works flawlessly and live wow is the only place where I’m having this issue.
The 144 Hz monitor does look to support FreeSync and with the new Nvdia driver updates, that should work on Nvidia GPUs now. Can look into enabling\disabling that either in the Nvidia Control Panel or on the monitor’s OSD.
Turning off G-sync solved the problem. Bug wise, would this be an Nvidia issue or a blizz issue because it’s mildly irritating and confusing lol. I’m still trying to figure out how PTR works fine where in, live has that issue. Thank you for your help though, I appreciate it.
The FreeSync support for Nvidia GPUs is fairly new and so I imagine a driver update in the future may help. One thing to note for G-Sync of FreeSync is that you’ll generally want to cap your FPS 1-3 FPS lower than the refresh rate of the monitor. That may also help.
There could be something different in the settings file on the PTR client you have. We can try copying the WTF folder from the PTR client over the the Retail client to test as well.
So I got tinkering with the settings in the Nvidia control panel and under the G-Sync tab I had “Enable Settings for the selected display model” checked under “Display Specific settings” and once I unchecked it, it seems like it has went back to normal for now. Will update later if that didn’t fix it.
Sure thing, thanks for the update!
