As the title states: I have a black screen up opening the game, background music continues to play, i can see the little hand icon to mouse around with, but everything on the background is otherwise a black screen. Drivers up to date, everything else on my pc - games and services - that ARENT WoW work just as they did yesterday. Assuming its patch related - seeking solutions. Thank you.

I am having the same issue, I am doing a scan to repair game files to see if it will fix issue.

Oddly enough - stepped away for a glass of water and to let my dog out, came back after restarting bnet (which I had already done twice) and this time log in was normal. Quirky patch day bug perhaps? To all having same issue, I suppose restart bnet, or try opening the game client from the actual WoW.exe in your game directory.
This was going to be my next step open up game from it .exe I will see what happens after the scan and repair.
Had the same issue, but after a few tries I got in.
Oh . . . never mind . . . I got booted. lol
Same. Tried using just game start not through bnet. Same result. Restarted bnet few times and it worked.

Restarting bnet did NOT work
Setting to DirectX 11 fixed me.

Scan and repair does not seem to have solved the issue.
Setting it to DX11 fixed it for me as well.
How do i change the setting? That support page is not loading for me.
Changing DirectX to DirectX 11 worked for me as well.
Tried changing it, but can’t get to options to do so. Can’t even cancel login.
Do you put the entire thing to change it?

And I get this black screen too. Ugh was making it to character select but it kept freezing there too.
Resetting in-game settings helped me get logged in
