Black screen on start up with in game cursor

When I start WoW I get my new window but it is a black screen. The ingame cursor appears when I scroll over the window but, their is no indication that the game is running. I’ve tried deleting the WTF file, changing screen resolutions, resetting game settings and updating drivers. None of these things have worked. This issue has only begun with the 8.1.5 update it has never happened in the past of my playing WoW. Please Send Help!

I’m having the same issue

Hi Folks

Looking over the Forum threads it seems the likely solution is to use DirectX 11 and/or disable any Overlays you may have running.

First try DirectX 11. Open the B.Net launcher. Select World of Warcraft. Under the main BfA/Wow emblem is the “Options” button. Go to “Game Settings” - place a check in box for “Additional Command Line Arguments”. That will open a blank input box. Type -d3d11 (include hyphen) then click “Done” to save.

Disable Discord overlay. Click the small gear icon on the Discord App. Go to Overlay then disable with slide switch.

This can also be caused by any other overlays you may have. Overwolf - Twitch - Riva Tuner - Microsoft Game Bar. The game is not fond of any overlays at all.

I do not have any overlays active so, its definitely not that. I will however try this directx fix when I get home from work, I will edit when I get to try it.
Update: using directx11 has fixed the issue. I hope I wont get to much lag now though as my computer doesn’t particularly like it.
