Black lotus fix did nothing. Currently sitting at 140g per

I thought you made changes to the spawn rate? It seems to have done absolutely nothing. Price is at an all time high on my server and only 5 sit on the auction house

not sure what you expected the cheaper they got the more people used them and rich people just bought tons chances are the same people getting them before are still getting them now with a few that slip through the cracks

You need to understand that the classic economy cannot be fixed without hyper inflating resources so much that markets can’t be purchased and price fixed. What’s happening is that rare but vital resources, like black lotus or arcane crystals, can be purchased in their entirety off of the AH and then resold at a fixed price. This requires a lot of initial capitol, but the player price setting already have that capitol. Even if new black lotus spawns create new black lotus sellers, their stock is immediately bought out and reposted to keep the price fixed.

This is why black lotus prices will never drop. There’s already too much damage done to the in game economy. The only way to “fix” it is to rocket up black lotus spawns until anyone with 300 herbing can go out and find one in about an hour or so. Once gathering black lotus is an option, the AH value will steadily drop. As it is now, buying black lotus is still the only option for the vast majority of players. If DME solo runs weren’t so accessible, arcane crystals and arcanite would be exponentially more expensive as well.

There’s an accessibility problem with black lotus that goes beyond getting 300 herbing and spending a few hours trying to find one.

140g is very cheap. avg still around 200g on my server. I would buy 100 lotus at 140g each in a heartbeat.

My server it dropped from ~120 to ~70 and hasn’t gone back up.

It’s because there is a ridonkulous amount of gold flowing around in the economy.

Didn’t they change the spawn locations/pattern somehow, are we sure they’re being farmed as “effectively”?

Go farm it then.

You (1 player) expected the spawn rate change to lower auction house prices. That did not happen.

That means your expectation was wrong. That does not mean the change was not made.

Wow people actually have this kind of gold? I think we have found our problem!

Went from approaching 300g to consistently 125-140g on my server, def had an impact.

I think this is true for stretches. But it cannot be maintained long term. Eventually, stockpiles will overrun people’s storage, and at some point, those herbs need to be sold or they will still be sitting there when TBC rolls out and everyone leaves, prices will plummet and all those lotus will go to waste. The result is that more supply necessarily WILL put downward pressure on prices long term.

On my server (Bloodsail), they were at about 90g each before the change, and they’re now floating at around 60g each. Most servers should have seen a drop, and if not, it eventually will drop, because sellers trying to fix prices can’t stockpile them forever. At some point those lotus sitting in banks will need to be sold or used.

My guess is the fact that AQ is coming out in a few weeks has people stockpiling them, either for use, or to sell when AQ comes out and demand goes up, which is resulting in a temporary drop in supply, creating upward pressure on prices. But I think this is also countered by a lot of people not using as much consumables for this soon to be old content, saving their resources for AQ instead, which creates downward pressure on prices. Where it lands, I guess depends upon the server.

When AQ drops, expect sellers that have been stockpiling to flood the market. But at the same time, demand will go up because people are raiding new content. So the equilibrium will shift again, and go up or down depending upon server.

This is primarily a problem on “megaservers.” They go for around 50g on my server.

There needs to be a gold purge.

Seething over anyone that planned ahead, wew.

“Black Lotus are expensive cuz megaserverz!”

They are spiking because AQ40 was announced. Yes, people were already building their warchest, but with it being a reality, people who didn’t have the built up banks are starting to go for it. As new AQ content gets moved to farm status, price will again dip until the announcement of Naxx.

Remove all the gold from the economy gained by the botters and exploiters.
Ya banned them for botting blizz. Now audit their gold transactions and delete it. Take all the layer exploit gold too.

They are easier to farm, but will always be expensive for people who rely on buying them from AH.
Since the update I’ve found plenty out in the world to keep me happy and stocked up. If you aren’t an herbalist (or a lazy one) expect to keep paying big bucks for it.

Under 100g on my server at this current moment (at least 10-15 for sale under 100g, lowest at 92g).

Before the change, lotuses were at 220-240g.

I’d imagine prices will go over 100g once AQ starts and people don’t have as much time to farm.

But this change had a huge impact on lotus prices on my server. Basically made it so non-botters could pick them regularly and don’t have to pay for them on AH.
