Black humans in wow

Can we please get some hairstyles, facial structure, and skin color so we can play as a black human again in WoW? The original human model gave you the option to look black. Why was this removed? I’ve seen so many threads on this over the years with hundreds of upvotes but have never seen any response from Blizzard. You can actually choose a skin tone that is fairly dark at the moment, but the hairstyles and facial structure just make you look ridiculous.

Here’s the old human black male model that was removed in WOD:

Roll a Tauren and get true black.

I’m all for adding in new hair styles, facial structures, and skin colors. However, I don’t agree that you could really look black in the original models, for those same reasons. You just looked like a dark skinned version of everyone else, but the features didn’t say “I’m black”.

I think there was a Lore reason at some point as to why there aren’t black models of humans. Something to do with Vrykul and the cold bitter environment effecting pigmentation.

Ofc i think in the official movie there were some but idk anyone who would take that as cannon since most of it wasn’t.

Yeah, lore wise it doesn’t make sense, but in this case I think it’s okay to forget about lore. If they want to add new islands/continents with different Human ethnicities, that’s okay too.

Technically, Humans should be even more homogeneous than they are, due to how intertwined the Human kingdoms have historically been. There hasn’t been any isolation to make one group much different from the other, as intermarriage and international travel has been fairly standard for the entire history of WoW Humans.

I can’t remember but were there black humans in the Warcraft movie?

yea, idc if they add it providing they add a reason or retcon.

We need more customisation in general, and I’m all for this as a starting point

In the Warcraft RPG books (Which are no longer canon) black humans come from Stranglethorn. I’m going to just assume it’s retconed along with everything else in the RPG books.

No thanks! We have enough people screaming false racism claims in rl. Don’t need it in wow too.

Have you all seen this Jussie Smollet thing going on right now? Are you friggin kidding me?

Yeah what Jussie did was straight up scummy.

From a lore perspective, the humans in wow evolved from the Vrykul but in real life humans evolved from ancient African ancestors and stuff. So the humans in wow evolved from an icy, cold environment but in reality we come from a species that originated in a tropical climate.

My guess is that the Hozen are distant cousins of Vrykul, though I wouldn’t recommend calling a Vrykul a monkey, that might not end well…

I like this theory

Could you not?

No, it can’t be that, but must be the fact that Blizzard is run by a bunch of bigots. At least that’s what many who keep requesting this will eventually allude to.

You can’t make a black human character anymore? What happened to the old ones with that skin tone, did they all get turned white?

A lot of character customization was lost when WoD released with the new models.

But at least the new models were optional. Until they weren’t optional anymore, like now.

Also: Thumbs up to OP’s request.

I think there are more pressing issues to focus on than facial structures that match dark-skinned humans. There’s nothing wrong with updating the models and offering a wider range of customization for QoL reasons of course.

Orcs are supposed to be the black people I thought? Wasn’t there a big thing about this back in Vanilla?
