I doubt anyone who wanted original vanilla when classic was announced (or original TBC, Wotlk, you get the point) is still around and the current players are either youngsters who never played the original or people from the retail crowd.
Maybe you get a few original players here or there but I am sure they don’t care enough anymore to complain because of their three kids they have at home and the 30 min gametime they get per day.
Its no surprise though… If blizzard would have properly managed servers from the beginning, and put a little more effort into classic, barely anyone would be asking for this…
I already quit. If you haven’t noticed the vast majority of people on this forum constantly cry for retail minded changes then you’re blind. It’s the same as OG wrath, they want boss lock outs, cross realm everything, RDF, recently there’s been an uptick for LFR, they want retail like balance tuning patches the list goes on and on.
Classic is over you’re already on a retail server with a bunch of RPers who pretend to be classic Andy’s while begging for retail.
I’m throwing in the towel myself. I watched 95% of the friends I made leave from the boosting crusade to now and only people left of the stragglers huffing copium, my raid leader, and the new to classic for Wrath Andy’s left in my guild. (we were once the second most active PvP guild on server horde side)
only thing that should ever be cross realm is dungeons and pvp. anything other than that can pound sand. btw, disable this Crossrealm bs for WG that is garbage nonsense.
So what the problem with this? honestly man being pigeonholed into server and hoping it doesn’t die is just out of date man, there was a reason why people flocked to Faerlina, Benediction, Whitemane and Pagle because those servers are unlikely to die off.
But this is the way people have been playing this game though.
Boss lockouts are actually a huge improvement over instance lockouts, but the problem is that it only really works with personal loot.
What they should do though, is allow parsing/achievement lockouts, which drop no loot, but let you keep retrying bosses for parsing/achievement purposes. Or maybe just add an npc in the raids that resets the boss (but the boss drops no loot, obv)
That was kinda my point. Personal loot is cancer, but you cant do boss lockouts without it, unless you have a “no loot unless everyones not saved to the boss” system, which, i guess in and of itself might not be too bad, but then youll have people running single boss raids, which might itself be cancer
Cross realm play itself wont ruin server identities and communities, as long as its limited to dungeons and pvp. Cross realm was never the thing that ruined communities, it was the rng of cross realm zones, which the players had no agency over
