BIS race for TBC warlock for arenas/wpvp/bg?

Orc - because rogues are bis for pvp

I’d call it a tie between undead and orc but at the same time the orc stun resist racial works against more spells than wotf does. Wotf is on use and can be used reliably whereas the orc racial is rng based and is nerfed from 25% to 15% in tbc.

Up to you: reliable racial or rng racial.

so it depends on what counters lock in TBC, rogues or other locks?

Human, because you ooze an aura of Chadliness for picking the worst race class combo in the game until EMFH is introduced in Wrath and subsequently nerfed in later expansions because Alliance having a strong racial is forbidden.

Undead hands-down. Arena is about control and reliability. If you resist a kidney that might win you a game, but you can’t plan around it.
But being able to break a seduce/MC/shout on command and go immune to them for 5 seconds is something you can plan around and will turn the tide of way more games.

Always orc :^)

yea but the only counter to lock it seems in TBC is a rogue.

Yea, but the most common other half of that combo/3’s is a priest.

Rogues and warriors counter everything in tbc.

I would go undead, a racial that you choose to use is usually better than lucking into a stun resist proc

Unless it’s a resto druid in full resilience gear. Good luck killing that raid boss.

u sure, cuz stun resist can proc many times and a kideny shot is much worse than a fear

Best is the one you like looking at. I like NE melee animation. I also like Orc caster animation

I understand what you’re saying but go re-read the OP. You completely missed the point of the thread. Imo it’s a toss up between UD or orc but id rather be UD for the racial plus they look cool so it does happen to fit your criteria even though it is off topic from this discussion.

Orc vs undead warlock is always hotly debated. For arena/wpvp probably undead. For BGs 50/50. For pve orc.

Too bad they nerfed orc stun racial. Even buffing the attack power racial to give spell damage can’t make up for that 10% stun resist loss.

Both are great. People often overlook all the niche uses racials have. You could argue for both of those choices based on the composition of the enemy team. Which literally changes every game.

Pick what you like.

The only hard call is if you are going to do almost 100% BGs. That’s my dilemma. All said and done, undead is likely the way too go.

Undead have bis looks, and the bis racial: cannabalize.

WotF being godly is just icing on the cake.

As much as I absolutely love this idea that we’re BiS for PVP in TBC its just not true, we got some savage nerfs over time, and it was the rogue community that was BiS for PVP not so much the class by the end. We’re damn good for sure, but not really BiS. There are actually quite a few very good and very strong comps in TBC that do not include Rogue. The only Class I can see potentially struggling for R1 territory in TBC is Paladin, but considering that RET being actually “decent” by the end of TBC was sorta new so there really weren’t any good ret’s on good teams with good partners enough to make splash on the ladders at the time.

If Classic is anything to go by then Late itemization and 2.4 abilities and talents will make Paladin, specifically Ret a better choice for Arena going forward pared with mages or even possibly hunters or SL locks with either a Disc healer or Resto shaman.

As for Rogues, moving from 2.0 to 2.4 does quite a few things to nerf us. Some of the TBC rogue nerfs, mostly in order to the best of my memory. Some of these you may consider a buff for casual play, but are actually sharp nerfs for arena, and these changes especially those in 2.3 and 2.4 change the rogue arena meta quite a bit in regard to how you play and what you can do, this also does not exclude the possibility that the meta will change with paladins being actually decent.

  1. 2.0.3 Evasion" (Rank 2) now reduces the chance that ranged attacks will hit the Rogue by 25%, reduced from 50%. It is now available at level 50.
  2. 2.1 Preparation" now only resets the cooldown of the “Evasion”, “Sprint”, “Vanish”, “Cold Blood”, “Adrenaline Rush” and “Premeditation” abilities.
  3. 2.1 The Shadow Sight buff now allows players to see other stealthed players at a greater range.
  4. 2.1 The energy gained from “Thistle Tea” now decreases with levels past 40.
  5. 2.1 The energy gained from “Renataki’s Charm of Trickery” now decreases with levels past 60
  6. 2.2 Sap duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
  7. 2.3 Riposte is now subject to diminishing returns in PvP.
  8. 2.3 Ruthlessness now only affects melee finishing moves. It no longer works with Deadly Throw.
  9. 2.3 Hemorrhage weapon damage reduced from 125% to 110%
  10. 2.3 Blind is now a physical (no longer a poison) attack. Reagent requirement removed. Now shares the same diminish category as Cyclone and is now diminished in PvE as well as PvP.
  11. 2.3 Preparation now resets the cooldown of Shadowstep and no longer resets the cooldown of Adrenaline Rush (Nerfed twice in the same expac)
  12. 2.4 Renataki’s Charm of Trickery has had its energy reduced. (nerfed twice in the same expac)
  13. 2.4 Cheat Death: This talent has been rebalanced significantly. Killing blows are no longer 100% absorbed. If the Rogue is below 10% health, the killing blow is still completely absorbed; if the Rogue is over 10% health, enough damage will be absorbed to reduce the Rogue’s health down to 10%. For the following 3 seconds, damage is not always reduced by 90%; it is now reduced by a maximum of 90%, depending on how much resilience the Rogue has. The damage reduction will be four times the damage reduction resilience causes against critical strikes.
  14. Sinister Calling now increases damage to Backstab and Hemorrhage by 1/2/3/4/5% (down from 2/4/6/8/10%.)
