BiS Fire mage Legendary

Hey y’all, I’ve been maining by Guardian druid expansion, so I’ve not played my fire mage much until recently. What is considered BiS for them? I see a lot of people using the barrier one to make themselves super tanky. But is that truly best?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you.

sim it. trust your sims more than any general recommendations.

You only want to use the barrier one for pvp. You want disciplinary command for all pve content.

Trust the sims.

In general, Disciplinary Command is BiS though. But “sim yourself” will ALWAYS be the correct answer.

Disciplinary command ring with haste verse will be the best route as you fill your gear. Also as important try and push your pvp badge up up up

That’s true of course, but I’m trying to understand the scenario where fi would be better than dc. Even if you only use it on combustion, I think it’s still a dps increase.

Aren’t rings bad for legendaries because they don’t provide main stats?

You can sim legoes with RaidBots. :robot:

Apparently wrist isn’t great because of the small int bonus from 226 to 235. Min/max says ring.

Right, but choosing the slot for the legendary is supposed to be a long term decision, not whatever slot is better on a sim at that particular time. Or at least that’s how it’s been explained to me lol.

Another reason I chose ring as well for DC is because if they allow us to equip more than one legendary down the line since there are two ring slots it won’t overlap with anything else. My first legendary was firestorm and that was a ring slot too.

Fire appreciates its secondaries quite a bit and the ring provides a metric ton of Haste/Vers for you.

You’d run that with the Donny ring or the DoS ring since there are plenty of viable options for Bracers.

Ah, I did not know that

Yeah, a lot of these legendary slot arguments come down to what other gear in those slots is available. If it’s easier to get a bracer with the right stats at the right level, you probably wouldn’t craft a legendary there.

So basically the intellect jump from a regular epic to a leggo isn’t big enough to warrant that slot?

I’m working on crafting my leggo and I’ve seen a few top warlocks that chose ring instead of bracers and I wasn’t sure why

I think it’s more like…can you easily acquire that slot with the secondary stats that you want? If the answer is no, you probably put your legendary there. For mage, there are enough bracers out there with the stats that we want where ring is the better option. It’s a long term, min/max sort of thing.

That makes sense

I was just told never use ring for your legendary because it has no intellect, but I’ve seen quite a few really geared players using ring and I was confused
