BiS Crafted Question

So I notice most “guides” usually list 2 crafted items for BiS for a class (for the embelishments). Looking at Prot warrior they typically only have 1 (or 0) in some cases.

I don’t shoot for mythic really so crafted gear is probably my “highest” ilvl items i’m gonna get. (I only do heroic stuff typically). In that case what should I shoot for, for my 2 crafted pieces?

For prot warrior probably sword and shield will be your 2 most important pieces you will want to have the highest ilvl you can get

Thats kinda what I figured. If i’m not doing myth content does it make sense to make them both 678 (or whatever the highest crafted level is) out of curiosity?

You can get crafted gear to 681 now. Shield is probably the most important because its where a very large chunk of your armor comes from. More survivability, you can make larger/safer pulls

Even if you don’t do myth content, you might end up being the tank of a group where a very high myth ilvl player might decide to come and help. So having a high ilvl weapon is very important because higher damage helps you maintain threat

Is it true most people will have at least 2 crafted gear in their BiS just due to embelishments?

Crafted gear is the closest thing to a fully maxed myth track gear you can get without doing stuff that drops myth track gear. With only about 3 ilvl difference from a myth track item. You can have as many as you want of those.
Embellishments are just extra effects you can slap to 2 of them. They are not exactly game changing but if you have atleast 2 crafted pieces on your gear might as well get them because its free bonus effect

Depends entirely on what you’ve got access to gear wise to drop.

Most people will stop crafting @ 2 embellishments, however anyone pushing M+ / Mythic Raid will tend to opt to craft additional pieces in slots they haven’t been lucky to replace yet which usually extends to weapons, necks/rings.

It’s not uncommon to use the crafting system as bad luck protection over the course of the season.

In my case I crafted in the following order of Bracers/Cloak → Neck → Legs for mythic prog since it was initially my embellishment slots and then by order of what were the biggest upgrades in slots I had yet to replace.

As for now with this uncapped system during the “turbo boost” it’s a pretty solid way to supplement your gearing up early on if you want to go somewhat harder on gearing up faster, catalyse your 4p and then craft 681s in every single slot (except for trinkets). From there all your upgrades will just be from the vault and your character will be at it’s maximum farmable power level and allow you to get prepped faster for the following season.
