How is it that Blizzard is still refusing to do anything about the current state of live servers? I only have experience on Bigglesworth, but it seems that this is a notion that is spread to other servers as well. Months ago, players were promised free character transfers off low-pop realms and people on Bigglesworth were rightfully worried that we would not be eligible for free transfers as we were at worst, a medium-pop server.
Alas, we are now considered a “destination” server and have to compete with Faerlina, Benediction, Grobbulus, Whitemane and others for fresh transfers. This has created a tsunami of transfers OFF OF BIGGLESWORTH as players have finally come to the realization that there will never be help from Blizzard to address server death. I am not aware of how many “destination” servers are having this problem, but I’m sure we arent the only ones.
As Blizzard gives us the fat middle finger, Alliance on Bigglesworth is in complete free-fall. Multiple 10/10 guilds have transferred in the last few days with planned departures for other guilds within the next few weeks. Many members of my guild have seen the writing on the wall as we’ve had to abandon alts entirely, unable to get a dungeon group together for the most common normals. The auction house is so inflated and empty, even casual dad guilds are transferring as they cannot buy consumables needed to progress (literally). My guild has continued to clear all the current content in about 3 hours, and I cannot find generic range dps who are interested in joining.
I am not looking for advice. I dont need anyone to tell me to just transfer, my entire guild and server knows that the solution is to transfer. I think the average player in my guild has 3 level 70s, with some us having 6+. It would cost me personally $150 to transfer my characters to a a playable realm. There are players in my guild who haven’t paid $ for wow time in years, coasting off retail gold. Now I have to ask them to transfer all of their characters off our server? Blizzard has created this problem and exacerbated it a thousand times with the introduction and management of free character transfers.
All while this is happening, Blizzard stated that they were working on introducing bulk character transfers which have mysteriously been absent. Its like Blizzard is reacting to the community through a time-machine. Every change or announcement is just too little, too late. Action needs to be taken yesterday. Players and guilds are so confident in Blizzard’s inability to address this issue, that they are quitting/transferring in droves. At this point, I dont think there is a single thing Blizzard can do to “save” Bigglesworth Alliance. The latest log data has this “destination” server at under 760 raiders. As of writing this, the only other 10/10 clearing guild left on Alliance Bigglesworth now has plans to move servers. We will be the only ones left, we cant buy consumes, cant recruit new blood - more or less a death sentence for any guild still stupid enough to stay.

Blizzard has never cared about server or faction balance they are literally on record stating it’s a player made issue.
Not sure why people don’t understand this?

Give the lad his shot.
We’ve pretty much all been through it at this point.

Earthfury is right there too, all but gone for Alliance.
Many people were simply waiting for the announcement, and are paying to move regardless.

760 seems like a lot of raiders actually, especially compared to original TBC numbers. Gotta keep in mind, this was recorded during the week of Thanksgiving as well, where most people are busy spending time with their family.
Every server can’t boast mega server population numbers. I prefer less populated realms myself, personally.

You cannot form a normal dungeon group on my server in its current state. I can scroll up and see the last same posts in LFG repeated over and over again for hours. Its a very short read.
Welcome to the forums Bigmeatball. Sorry to hear about Bigglesworth.
As you mentioned this has sadly been happening over and over again with servers. I just went through it on my alliance where I held out until there were so few alliance that I could only really PVP. It was depressing for a few months before that with constant negative talk and Benediction advertisements - and the stuff stated literally read like advertisements - everywhere from people who had already transferred. It was clear the direction things were going. The AH got very, very bad as well. Everything was listed for too much but then I’d put things up at reasonable prices and they would not sell. I am very aware the same thing could happen with my horde as well but it hasn’t really started yet.
I’m not going to tell you what to do. A lot of us have been through this and have provided our feedback. Many of the servers could have been saved if actions were taken a lot earlier (layer removal etc) but this is how it is, unfortunately.
Your thread is fine and don’t let anyone else tell you differently. This forum is filled with people trying to make themselves feel better or something by talking down to others and it’s not as if there’s a lot of super important things being discussed where we shouldn’t talk about servers dying. I encourage everyone who wants to make threads like this to continue to do so.
I don’t expect Blizzard to do much to help sadly but there’s nothIng wrong with providing feedback.

You are going the way of Fairbanks, I’m afraid. It is an insane snowball effect and really becomes a self fullfilling prophecy once the “this server is dead” stuff starts. It’s too late and your realm will die. Some will transfer, some will quit. You, TF alliance, farelina/whitemane alliance, horde benediction, and netherwind are all on blizzard’s target list. They wanted to destabilize you and crush your confidence with these (lack of) free transfers so that you would transfer.
TBC loses players every time this happens. We are absolutely hemorrhaging at 10k players lost a week. Unless people dig their heels in and quit instead of transferring then blizzard will just keep squeezing out every last drop of transfer revenue that they can.
Also don’t forget, the lead dev of classic is on record saying that feee transfers are ‘work’ and that he wishes he would have done them sooner.

…and yet most of the players pay to move. Not sure why one would think Blizzard looks at it as an issue.
I think the 10k+ players lost per week on TBC would suggest otherwise.

Most players that quit instead of paying to transfer don’t make forum threads. They just quit.
It’s extremely common for 5+ members of a guild to chose not to move and then that guild has to recuit those spots as no names on their destination.

My guild on biggles is holding out for free or batch transfers. Luckily our roster is pretty steady, but I already moved an alt to the grob mob so I can have something to do on off raid days. The only thing that sucks right now is the ah is dead.

It’s sad that free transfers, which should have been a salvation for medium realms, have instead only served to further glutton up the mega realms. By putting the fat realms on the destination list Blizzard has sealed the fate for everyone else. No one will ever come to our realms now. We are all on life support. Our days are numbered. My realm wasn’t even put on the destination list, not that it would matter anyway. Who would pick a medium pop when you could pick a high/full instead?
As usual, Blizzard fled the forum after dumping the news on us. They can’t be bothered to read the forum, type text explaining why they did it, what they plan to do next, answer anyone’s questions, NOTHING. Trying to talk to Blizzard is like yelling out into the void around outlands.

R.I.P Biggles, been here since day one. Stayed in the the same guild since my first MC pug. TBC hit and there was a definite change in the atmosphere. Transferring off this weekend with another guild that will be my new.
Btw, you ever realize how hard it is to condense four bank alts onto your main?
Please give us free server transfers ASAP.

Biggles was a strong sever for a long time; far longer than most. What has happened to it, like others, is a travesty and one put into motion by Blizzard, not the player base.
It’s hard to come any other conclusion than that of Blizzard has intentionally fostered a system that leads to cycles of server transfers for profit. It’s disgusting and reprehensible.
Unfortunately the only solution at this point is to never buy another Blizzard product again. That’s what they deserve and that’s the only thing that would lead to fundamental changes at the company.

I asked about a free transfer and they simply said “NO” . They don’t care!
Clearly in this case for tbc they caused it and exacerbated the issue beyond repair.
Easy to repair for players.
Find mega server of your faction.
Pay to xfer to that mega server.
??
Profit.
