As someone who easily gets motion sickness and such, the fact it’s so close - not first person but almost, this is unplayable to me. I can’t even tell what the heck is going on it’s so close. We really should be able to zoom out like we can in WoW. This camera is awful.

I’m going to assume you haven’t played a Battle Royale before because this is fairly standard. These games aren’t really made for people with motion sickness in mind.
I have not. In fact, due to how severe my motion sickness is - WoW is my most played game as it only made me sick a handful of times but most of the time I can play it just fine. But up close cameras is a huge no-no so in WoW I zoom out to max distance

I agree. For me it has nothing to do with motion sickness. This lack of camera distance customization is a complete deal-breaker. Its frustrating not being able to see over the blade of grass. Microsoft, Fail.

You can zoom out I always zoom out before being shot out of the canon…then I hit M for map …see where I am on big map and shut it down and then I am on my way to my spot…still zoomed out too, I only zoom in when I am about to land…so I can see whats on the ground in case I need to steer away
ya but the fact is keeps zooming back in start of every game is dumb. if i zoomed out, leave it zoomed out
Don’t assume everyone else is an idiot. 
Of course we have. I cannot zoom out any further than my characters backside. I’ve tried everything, adjusting settings (which destroys my normal WoW settings and every time I log into WoW I have to fix it), disabling addons etc etc. If I zoom in I cannot zoom back out because the camera gets stuck zoomed in and I have to reload. I know the game is capable of it as I’ve seen videos of people playing at a distance, but I cannot, and neither can some others which is what this thread is about.
That is strange now I have no issue zooming out and zooming back in now…I am always adjusting my screen as I move around…
Praise the Storm …it gets my Plunder not the chasers. 
You should be able to scroll all the way out and it work.
The camera is a little off though.
My biggest dang issue with Plunder is that dang Level splash on my screen it blocks my forward sight for too damn long…I get too the point now I just freeze in place till its gone thus wasting precious time looting or scooting…

I have a trackball mouse, so no scroll wheel. The usual way to zoom out for me while playing normal WoW are the brackets near the Enter key, which do not work within Plunderstorm. I’m sure I’m just blind, but I’ve looked many times in the options and can’t find where to zoom out more, which I’m sure is hindering my gameplay. I’ll keep plugging along though. 
I’m able to scroll out to absolute max camera distance akin to what my camera looks like in Retail. Not sure what weird issue you happen to be running into though. It sounds super annoying.
Have you tried setting the zoom buttons onto different keys while in the lobby? The controls are a completely different set than the main game, but you need to be in the lobby or game to get to the menu.
I’ve customised it all to different keys than the default and can farm this game far more comfortable now.
