Biggest factor why players are leaving in droves

Bad class design. No regard for constructive, quality player feedback.

Bad system design. Azerite.

Ion and crew thinks shiny new art and content calendar will sustain WoW. It won't. They are driving all the long-time, dedicated players away.
The best way to lie is to put the lie in as an assumption, not your main point. The title "Biggest factor why players are leaving in droves" does that. It pretends that "players are leaving in droves" is a fact we already agree on.

I don't believe it. I don't agree. People have been claiming this for years. Players have been quitting since 2005 - it is the nature of MMOs. It's nothing new.

When a game feels more like a chore than entertainment, it's time to leave.

I agree 100%. But it is the PLAYER that changes, not the game. Long-time players see it as the game gradually getting worse, when in reality THEY are less eager, less excited, less tolerant of flaws with every added year of playing the SAME GAME. Who wouldn't be?

And the game will always be the same game. There is no magical way to make it a new, amazingly different game each year. It is only natural for it to SEEM like less fun each additional year that you play.

then why is it that a mail wearing hunter can get a pally plated chest

What?

Like this is just factually incorrect full stop.

No one is leaving because of stat squish and I find it hard to believe that people are leaving because of personal loot, no matter how many lies you try to fabricate about it.
The real reason people are leaving is because Blizzard hasn't given us Epicus Maximus mount that both swims and flies. People don't say it in the forums, but we all know it's true.
Same reason they always leave, it’s boring. The game isn’t in a good spot right now, every class/spec I play is boring compared to legion, they don’t feel good... some need some serious tuning numbers wise to be competive, azerite gear and the heart of Azeroth are incredibly dull, the RNG for Azrite gear is awful, and if I hear “a turtle made it to the water” one more time I’m burning my house down.

Personal loot is a one candy pinata and often the candy is stale.

Blizzard needs to return all loot options and let players fight it out over pixels if they are so inclined. In 14 years, I only ever saw one loot dispute and that ultimately was resolved by the two players.

Everything is really disjointed and if they don’t make azurite and gold drops from dungeons/raids meaningful this game will never recover. I was farming mats for a mythic guild and the GL quit. Their neck piece was trash. Raiding is a lot of work and requiring daily quest grinds and island expeditions being done regularly on top of it to clear content is just bork. They are still trying to shove both of those down our throats, but it’s distracting from the core of the game. It’s not that I dont’ like dailies, or even IE, but they should be rewarding in and of themselves, not required to do other content. I did do daililes in Legion but it was nice not having to worry about it when I missed them. Dailies are even more required now than they ever were in legion: Paragon chests reward so much gold and are so much of gold generation + AP rewards just don’t make them optional any more.

I think they’re trying to squeeze the played time metric and are keeping their most addicted players running on a treadmill and everyone else oscillates between quitting and just poking around every now and then.

The points you bring up are good, but I don’t think they’re the main cause. They turned this game into a grindy mess.

The only reason I have to log on now is for the 380 item warfront quest. One run this morning, get my free handout, and I’m done for 3 weeks.
15 days left. See you all in FFXIV.

all these threads about biggest reason s ever this or that remind me how many places Claim to be number one at this or that.

if the game is so easy why do I keep getting kicked from heroic ashvane for doing 12k dps? hmmmm?

I don’t get why having huge numbers is that big of a deal though?

The other game Blizzard has -Diablo 3- has people frequently hitting for over a billion… sometimes trillions and it feels good to hit that hard.

I don’t understand the logic on nerfing numbers because they are “easier to read”.

We aren’t blind, and some of us can register numbers more than 5 digits.

For example a phone number…

This claim you’re making is blatantly and provably false.

Content that has the legacy buff active drops how things used to drop because people complained that personal loot felt bad for farming old raids, be it for gold or for transmog. You get more loot this way, with a higher chance of getting something you can xmog than if it were just personal loot anyway. It’s not at all a problem, it’s just inconsistent with how looting works when you’re doing stuff relevant to your level.

yeah I pretty much covered most of the problems with WoW on my own thread days ago

sure it wasn’t the only reason but merely one of many bad decisions that drove a lot of players away

For your first point, I’m getting Envenom crits of 70+k. No level 12/25 is seeing numbers higher than 1k (maybe 2?). There’s absolutely power progression. Just because mobs get tougher as you get higher level (go figure) doesn’t mean there’s no power progression.

For your second point, no mail class can receive plate loot. If this happened, send the screenshot and a description in a bug report because it’s obviously not supposed to work that way. But you know that. You’re just being dramatic to make a point.

You have no idea specifically why (according to this forum) players are leaving in droves. Pretending you do just makes you look like a buffoon. And making up scenarios to try to strengthen your point makes you look like a donkey. If you don’t like the game, then leave. Come back in the future and maybe you’ll have fun again.

Yup, keys were fun in Legion. Then Blizzard thought they would “do better” in BFA and made unnecessary changes and killed a lot of the fun. After reading the alleged Shadowlands leak I wouldn’t doubt the Tinker talk. They would have to completely gut engineering. Remove bombs, charges, mounts, gimmicks like headguns, etc. A charge to a Tinker would be the lock pick to a Rogue, etc. If they put in Tinker then there is nothing stopping Alchemists. Another profession gutted. Blizzard is known to destroy professions (See: WoD).

They will be Soon :tm:

I doubt it’s a number crunch and if anything we are going to need another one soon too

I’d rather smaller numbers to be honest and I thought it was tight on the bfa prepatch
