Im still on team addon with this knowing thst blizzard has a horrible track record of implimenting things, it breaking everything withing 20 square miles of what it touches and then finally having half a fix for it 3 weeks later but removing the aura hook and combat logs which these addons rely on in order to function.
Say goodbye to Hekili, WA, DBM, etc especially when im playing enhancement shaman and pirate rogue and my WA’s only really tell me when I have max stacks of maelstrom, my tempest counter, my crash lightning buff and for pirate rogue it tells me which roll the bones buffs I have.
This is seriously a huge HUGE mistake on their part by forcing this instead of adding and incorporating things like with their UI, you CAN use thr base UI or stick it out with elvui or bartender, whatever youre comfy with.
One work around to this might be that the addon developers will have addons to talk with other players who also have these addons which will basicslly turn into “if you arent running what we are then you dont get invited.” But, this whole addon debaucle is just a huge waste of time and pain in rear end that didnt need to happen at all.
And before people say “it isnt scheduled to hit until midnight expansion you dont know about it!” And then when it hits and it sucks the arguement will be “why didnt you say anything!?!?”

I hate their guts for removing DBM I can’t play without it it’s just impossible played for over 10 years with it people will riot mark my words they will have to revert their decision when complaints start.
Even though I’m fuming with anger
right now I know I’m not the only one yet again not very smart move on them.
The funny part is that i raided back into the days of WotLK and what raiding was back then was the following
–start raid
–Get wiped by a boss ability cause it was the first time seeing what that ability was.
–spend the next 30 minutes scrolling through the dungeon journal to figure out what description matched the ability the boss used

It is stunning and brave of people to stand up for the addons that seem to have been forsaken by the world. Addons are an endangered species on the brink of extinction and we need loud and proud voices to speak truth to power if we are going to preserve them.
Perhaps Blizzard can create an addon conservatory where we can go and view addon exhibits and see how beautiful they are in their natural habitats. That way people will understand the value these addons bring to our environment and we can see a resurgence of them in the future.
Best of luck on your noble quest, OP.

not the best execution i will say for the op
I know what you mean but that time has passed we have gotten used to the addon that like I said it’s impossible to play without it.

I am going to enjoy listening to all the super-try-hards getting big mad about their addon ecosystem and them parsing like casuals.

It’s amazing that we seem to have two significant groups of people so uninformed that one is panicking about something that isn’t going to happen and the other is licking their lips about something that isn’t going to happen.

Yeah but you can’t expect people to revert to the olden times when for years they got dependant on the system.
You cant learn an old dog new tricks.
The removal of any addon functionality isn’t scheduled for Midnight, or scheduled at all. I’m sure we’ll see more attempts at UI improvement that come with Midnight, but they aren’t going to disable anything until a combination of UI changes and encounter mechanic changes happen that will make the game still feel fine and playable without those addons.
Its just a lofty long term goal and direction, nothing is set.

I agree with the OP. Some of my WAs have audio cues attached (outlaw rogue mostly) - i dont see Blizzard implmenting that at all. Historically, Blizzard implments something that falls far short of what addons can do. Not looking forward to the change at all

That’s always been the case thus add-ons were created.
None of us are trust me.
And I believe blizzard got buthurt because add-ons are doing much better job then they are so they are trying to get rid of them.

this is probably the best one-sentence summary of this forum that i’ve ever seen

This isn’t happening any time soon, let’s be real here. Blizzard will take years to implement any type of stable comparison to any addon they want to be rid of. I mean they can’t even put the BASIC “floating combat text” in the F’n UI NOW, we have to look up the /console commands. They are just trying to save a dying game and trying to make it CONSOLE friendly for the “gamers” that can’t game…
But, I do like how all the CAREER LFR RAIDERS are the ones that are happy to see things going away.
well typing buttons is hard
Think about this nugget, I’ve been here since the end of BC, in my experience it doesn’t matter what Blizzard does, or if you quit like I did in BfA, the game just keeps rolling right along.
But every single huge change stays with rare exceptions, the WoD flying debacle for example. I don’t see the proposed change nearly as “game breaking” as that.
And for the doomsday sayers, since the changes won’t happen for quite some time, why not turn your addons off to start adapting now?
