Big frame drop 3070

Just got a new 3070 and on first use i saw greater than 150 fps in older areas of the game and 100 fps in Ardenweald at the max settings 1440p.

After reloading the game after a break in the same day I saw my frames steadily decrease to as low as 60 in stormwind was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

I always lose framerates in cities. I had a 5700 xt and now I have a 3070 ti, and going into town is almost an automatic 50-100 FPS drop.

Probably too much data getting tossed around.

Sounds like Ray Tracing was not on before and now it is. You might also have a Frame Rate limiter enabled. Its under the Graphics then under the advanced tab. Its to the right of ray tracing

Maker sure the 3 boxes on the right are unchecked. Also at the bottom Make sure you uncheck “auto detect” and select your graphics card

With all this said please remember wow is a CPU based game not GPU. So your CPU and Ram have a HUGE effect on FPS. Yes even at 1440p. WoW does not work like your typical AAA Game and all the work falls on your GPU. In wow its 65% CPU+ RAM Speed and 35% GPU

Addons can be at fault for low frame rates. Make sure you have everything updated.

I had an issue with the new Zereth Mortis symbol language not playing well with one of my addons. My fps in the zone usually is 100+, but when one of the automa would say something as long as the symbols were in my chat window, my frames would drop to 60 or lower. Scrolling the symbols off the screen would cause my fps to shoot back up to 100.
