Big Damage class

I will admit, please dont judge, but I would like to get into mythics and do big damage.

Could anyone suggest the classes that put up the best numbers, both single target and AOE?

It may be a terrible way to pick a class, but I just cant help myself.

You’re playing it right now

Demon hunters can get the highest damage out at the basic level, are very mobile, and have an excellent kit for mythic +. They are easy to learn and even better once mastered. I play more then I’d like to admit with multiple classes and specs and find that to be the best bet for someone looking to get in there and make an impact immediately.

  • highest damage out at the basic level

use your builder + spender with blade flurry active as outlaw, very complicated

  • are very mobile

grappling hook + sprint + stealth

  • have an excellent kit for M+

nothing comes close to the toolkit of rogue (of any spec) for M+, both offensive and defensive

Havoc DH will not give him anything he does not already have on his rogue, assuming he does not want to tank of course

His question and experience shows me he is new to the mythic + game and is looking for the best way to get into it and make an impact. My advice, like always, comes from actual in game experience. I stand by my advice.

If you want help btag me NFC#11938 . Unlike a lot of these forum warriors I’ll put my money where my mouth is and can explain to you in more detail how to get the most out of your spec if you choose to stick with it without telling you how EASSSYYY it is . What a joke.

Outlaw Rogue is quite simple. But the issue is, without the right buffs from Roll the Bones, your DPS can tank hard. Both single target and AoE.

Also, they’re very Crit reliant. Dispatch is moderate damage at best, and having Between the Eyes not Crit is just a feels bad moment.

But at about 30% crit, having a 100k BtE with Blade Flurry active in a group of 5+ does make the damage meters look good.

But I’ll also second that DH is even easier easier since you don’t have to worry about Roll the Bones and deciding if the buff is good enough or not. My last dungeon with mine I wasted 5 finishers on Roll the Bones before landing a good one on the 6th.

doing very well as assassination right now. more fun and reliable for me personally. I wouldplay a DH - but dang, every single person plays one, or has an alt DH…feels diluted.

I imagine a single nerf will render them useless for awhile - and they have just one dps spec. I am not going to get survival hunter’d again by blizzard.

I enjoy my outlaw rogue, and it no doubt has way more utility than dh, however dh puts out better numbers and is probably going to be right up your alley. I really like mine.

Here’s how I maximize my potential as a havoc dh. First, I make sure I have 3 eyes of rage traits. Then, I meticulously clean my keyboard and vigorously scratch my face across it.

But in all seriousness, dh is good. Super easy to gear for and they put out insane numbers for absolutely no reason. I’m gearing up my second one now, and under 400ilvl with r1 essences I’m putting out 20k dps single target and 35k on 3 target and that grows exponentially pending on the size of the pack. My other dh I’ve got around 423 or so ilvl with r2 and 3 essences and I’m pushing 30k - 35k single target. My outlaw doesn’t come close, however my outlaw also has totd and shroud which is extremely good, although won’t be quite as important next patch with the new affix.

Yeah I main Assassination spec as well. Just playing with Outlaw to see what all the fuss is about.

Forgive the double post, but I’d wager that Shroud will become even more relevant than it is now. Rather than there being the possible Shroud spot, you’ll have use for it in every dungeon depending on where the obelisks are located. Need shroud to get to those pesky ones located just behind that pack that no one ever wants to deal with

For reference, I’ve been on the ptr but only to look at the cloak chain, I haven’t set foot in a single key. But from the videos I was watching people were using fairly interesting kiting patterns to move the mini bosses and then using the void zones they spawn for skips, and was even using rogues / druids to stealth grab the obelisks then sprinting the boss to the tank etc. Looked like a lot of high iq play that a lot of us aren’t gonna be crafty enough to master and it’s definitely not going to cheapen shroud but it, to me, made it look much less a requirement to timing higher keys because the new mechanic is opening completely new ways to do skips

90% of the DH players are terrible.

If you want to play Havoc, actually be good and standout. Use Darkness, keep your interupt on CD, make smart decisions when you’re going to eye beam on a pull or hold it for the following pull, use chaos nova as well as possible, actually use Blur when there’s unavoidable damage coming out and you’re not in meta to heal yourself back up, use your offensive purge, use arcane torrent (if Horde) to ease on dispels.

Because the base class can do so much damage with the basic demonic build, and because it’s extremely strong in the open world a lot of players are going to pick up the DH and have zero clue how it should be played in a dungeon setting.

This guy gets it

  • Open your spellbook
  • Keybind every active ability minus glide
  • Practice by using them regularly in groups such as using chaos nova or imprison to stop non-interruptable trash casts

I did some yolo ML + 9 group with my huntard alt this week, in a group with two havoc DHs. They kept complaining to have a countdown timer so they could do meta at the start. These same guys didn’t bother to enchant or gem their gear. I was then absolutely NOT surprised when none of them interrupted, purged, stunned, CC’d or bothered to kill orbs during the actual run resulting in a quick disband.

It’s like people complaining about optimizing consumables when they take 50% of avoidable damage to the face. Focus your available brain power on low hanging fruit of how you actually play during combat.

This goes for any spec, not just havoc DH. I’ve lost count of how many 1.5k score rogues I’ve seen who use zero stuns to stop non-interruptable trash casts (or as an actual interrupt).

I can imagine with this new raid tier like so many previous ones there will be legions of players wiping on stuff that should be obvious and instead of fixing the obvious in-combat mistakes they will instead think things like “if only I used another potion or a combat rune I could beat this”…WRONG.

For someone like me that only push mythic+ using my own key, i kinda agree with the statement of majority of dh is terrible.

Some even can’t get their spell rotation right, doing terrible damage, sometime i could just even or out damage them as arms warrior.

Some didn’t use their abundance of utility in mythic+ to smoothen the run, for example didn’t incorporate chaos nova into spell rotation to cc those dangerous trash pack. Use imprison on some dangerously positioned emissary or mobs.

In general a big proportion of the current DH population were originally likely rogues way back in classic/TBC. They got steadily annoyed with the homogenization of blizz making other classes/specs competitive in DPS, especially pushing into wrath. Wrath also brought the DK who was stupidly powerful on release and for most on wrath and was…a melee DPS like rogue. So a bunch of rogues rerolled DK.

When MOP came out the DK had been diminished steadily since wrath and out came the shiny new OP windwalker monk. Those people then went to WW monk for most/all of MOP.

When Legion came out the Monk had been significantly changed since the MOP design, especially with the 7.0 prepatch prune. Out comes the shiny havoc DH giving everything you want as a “casual”(usually bad casual = “badual”) player with relatively minimal effort required. So those ex-rogues turned ex-DKs turned ex-monks are not in the havoc DH population.

I say all of this from the perspective of someone who has lurked and posted on the forums on and off since the early wrath days and saw big debate threads from people disenfranchised with those classes at the time.

Rogues are the best M+ DPS in the game. You won’t find any DPS better than what you’re playing right now. They are also very good in raids and have 3 DPS specs to choose from, so if one is underperforming, they at least have their chances with 2 others.

enhancement looks pretty good

it’s underrated for sure. I have seen all class/spec combinations do very well if you put in the time to learn the rotations, abilities, and get the right gear.
