Biased NPCs in Classic WoW

So I have decided upon my main, which will be a Forsaken Priest. I’ve been looking up leveling routes and dungeon quest chains when I stumbled upon Sage Truthseeker.

Sage Truthseeker is a Tauren NPC. You may know the guy because he is the turn in NPC for the Uldamen disc quest. What you don’t know is that he also starts a quest called Compendium of the Fallen.

Compendium of the Fallen is a quest where you go into Scarlet Monastery and get a book. Great group quest for the Horde. Except for one little thing.

"The Earthen Ring had pure intentions towards our plagued brethren. But who is to know the motivations of those whispering in the ears of the Elder Council?

The Forsaken whom we have allied with have a history wrought with deceit. Too hasty was our pact. Perhaps Cairne would have been wise to heed the warnings from Orgrimmar…"- Sage Truthseeker

Then I’m met with this from WoWhead.

Not available to Undead players

So because this cow doesn’t trust the Forsaken I can’t get the quest? ((That’s really great Roleplaying in an RPG actually lol)).

Well, you know what Sage Truthseeker. Don’t need your stupid quest or your stupid green item rewards anyway.

Just picture my dungeon group(s).

“Everyone get the book for the quest?” - Tank

“Yeah” - everyone except me.

“No” - me.

Then they’ll point and laugh. All because of a biased NPC doesn’t think I can handle the truth about the Forsaken. Hate Tauren now. Just hate them.

Moo.
Are you happy now?

No. I’m starting a campaign to burn Thunderbluff now. We must burn it and start over. We’ll make new tauren and grass feed them and have them accept all members of the horde.

(I seriously thought this was pretty cool I couldn’t get the quest. I imagine it’d be a great addition to any Forsaken roleplayers story as they progress through the game).

So now the undead have a bone to pick with the tauren.

I mean, Forsaken are zombies who want to kill us all out of spite.

Sage is in fact a Truthseeker.

Sylvanas primary advisor is a Dreadlord and all.

This is a cool fact.

The quest is about the Tauren trying to find a cure for the undead, the undead cannot get it for valid lore reasons, one of those neat little wrinkles that made the game so interesting.

Actualy this is more significant than you know, tho less so without TBC, the shield rewards are some of the few you can get that are i lvl 35 in the 29 bracket, the inability of Undead to get this means they are stuck with the marbled buckler, locking them out of the belt I wear on this toon, the belt back then also had a boat load of armor, for whatever reason it was given armor itemization as plate, not mail so it was insanely good back in the day for 29 tink tanks, like me.

These little details made Vanilla great.
