This entire thread makes me wonder what changes have been made for PVE that i haven’t noticed. Don’t get me wrong, i rarely PVP, not my cup of tea. I prefer to casually stroll along questing and occasional random dungeons. Every time i read through the patch notes it seems like they are making changes to cater to the PVP crowd. Last few times i’ve dipped my toes into battlegrounds, things seemed pretty solid.
I read an article from last week in a computer magazine, according to their sources at this moment in time the classes in WoW are the most balanced they’ve been in the 20 years of the games existence.
I suppose that is the base of the problem though. How do you take a 20 year old game, fix all the corporate goofs over 20 years, and then overhaul it with out turning it into a completely different game.
Don’t get me wrong, i could list problems from dragon flight all day long. The bottom line you can not look past is that the populations have been going up, and it’s been a higher retention of players over the last 2 years of this expansion.
I feel the reason behind that is that they are finally working on quality of life changes and not just combat changes. Yes that is gonna pull attention from all areas of the game, especially PvP. But the way the news articles sound, they are redoing ground work. Which i’m pretty sure makes it worth being patient and seeing what the final season and next expansion bring.
But like i said earlier, not trying to invalidate anyone. It just seems like most of the people posting could use a glimps of a view from outside the pool.
you say they died but you go on to say that people do them and you don’t like them because of x y and z.
what does “died” mean in your title exactly?
we need a few new BGs
The world’s just hoping I change my mind last minute. I started at the same time as a friend that created a paladin named Caramon and we quested together. He’d never read the books but people would comment on my name so he wanted something matching.
Yeah…bgs have really gotten so stale years back I quit pvping after WoD and only did war mode which was fun but like all pvp blizzard gave up on it too. I guess if anything they should just separate pvp into a secondary game mode like plunderstorm and make the rewards go into wow for those who play.
But yeah the same stale BGs and everything you mentioned shows how little blizzard cares about wow pvp outside of arenas.
Just put in a ticket bro, I’m sure blizzard will respond in a timely manner. LOL!
Bring back Strand of the Ancients, it is all I want ;~;
That was my favorite BG, until they ruined it, and then a while later got rid of it.
I’m still convinced it was removed in WoD because they didn’t know how to hotfix the feather that shoots you into the air and super flys around the place.
I used to enjoy battlegrounds a lot but there are so many issues plaguing them that I hardly play anymore. Which is also why I’ll probably let my subscription expire soon.
1.) No new substantial content in years. The last new battleground they added was Seething Shore at the end of Legion. That was over 6 years ago.
2.) Premades, further amplified by the crappy potions they added at some point.
3.) AFKers/ Botters. There is one guy I frequently get matched with that has been botting since at least DF launch. He’s in the top 5 matches played in the leaderboards (over 13k).
4.) No base item level for beginners. Load into a 10 vs. 10 player match, have 3 players with 200k health on your team. Don’t even need to wait until the first engagement to know this is over.
5.) Tier set bonuses should be disabled in PVP
6.) Some really poorly designed achievements, like Cloud Nine that pretty much everyone exploited before Blizz fixed it.
PvP aint fun when it takes like 5 mins to kill someone 1v1 unless you out gear them by alot , not like the old days
So they need to nerf hunters, some healers and jump potions, fix the nameplates and add new maps.
Sounds like an ez hotfix tbh.
The anti premade stuff is weird to me…
What’s the fix?
You’re not allowed to do BGs with a friend?
You and your buddy want to do a BG together but nope, not allowed to Que together for “casual non rated” BGs?
Currently you can only Que with a 5 man group, what’s the cutoff then if that’s too much? Solo? Duo? Trio?
It’s not worth the development effort for the amount of people doing it. Catch 22. Not enough people to be worth improving, but can’t grow the audience without improvements.
theyll pick back up a lil next season. bgs arent that dead. wait 5-10minutes, boom, bg.
I think most of it is because of the people who exploit the queue system to get group sizes of greater than 5. Legal premades get blamed sometimes for issues related to the population and queues, it’s a harsh system that indiscriminately places new players against people with 1000s of games of arena experience. Premades probably do need better balance, I think they should limit 10 man instances to 3 and raise 40 mans to 10 (assuming they can fix the bug which allows people to sync queue and have focus on placing premades against one another).
Just a question of what Blizzard is willing to invest and if population would support segregation.
They’ve pretty much abandoned all pvp modes at this point.
From lack of tuning, letting clearly over-tuned abilities/specs run rampant for extended periods of time, to poor reward structure (seriously, you have the honor level system, start adding more things to it).
As far as rated play goes, they’ve split the player pool between too many game modes causing participation issues which leads to deflation and poor que times which further feeds less participation.
Unfortunately there is like 0 changes coming in regards to pvp so it’s kind of hard to not think they’ve abandoned putting development time into pvp.
There just aren’t enough people doing it to have 2 queues. There’s barely enough now.
There’s so much wrong with PvP, it’s hard to even know where to start.
The day they completely redid Deepwind Gorge because of Demon Hunters and Priests, i think that sent a signal that PVP would always be the last priority.
And now we have a whole new crop or Devs who never knew anything else.
What they dont understand is the PVE has hit diminishing returns. Stop losing people to MOBAs, FPS games, and Battle Royales - 100s of millions of players - and do something to attract them.
I do think Plunderstorm was the right first step. Arena is a bad game mode and zero people will come in off the street to play it. But we need to take the lessons of Plunderstorm and apply them to other game modes.
Less buttons, no addons. You need PVP that people can play today. Not with the insane arena requirements.
More game modes just adds to that issue.
