BG Queue times

Hello fellow adventurers!

I just had a quick question, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read and respond- I’ll keep this short.

I am a former rank climber in PvP, Horde side, back in vanilla. And I experienced next to instant BG queue times, but I have heard the opposite for Alliance.

I want to see this amazing game from the other side now, but not at the cost of 10 min BG queues. Can anyone dispel my anxiety on this subject, and give me an educated guess to alliance queue times and if they will be a problem?

Thank you guys so much, God bless, and ADVENTURE ON BB!

I played alliance in vanilla. I rather liked the 10 min queue times, because I could get other things done while I was waiting. I could see why it might be a problem for a rank climber, but if you’re serious about being alliance, try to find something to fill the time. If there’s nothing in game to do, go get yourself a coffee or do some squats.

With Cross Realms, its hard to say what the times will be. The common thought is that more people will roll Horde as we had the better PvP Racials.

Nobody knows yet though.

Do you know me? Haha, because caffeine and workout out are most definitely woven into every one of my days, so fantastic idea!

And I suppose it isn’t the worst, because other climbers on the same side have the same queues, theoretically. But I just adored PvP in Vanilla so much, I want to be able to spend a disproportionate amount of time within that space.

But Dokta, fair point, Cross Realms does make things interesting… and if that is the case, is the goal of that even queue times, regardless of faction? I’m trying to think back to 1.12, and if that ended up being the result, but sadly I’m drawing a blank.

I am under the impression Alliance always far outnumbers the Horde, especially pre- Blood Elves, but I could be wrong.

But I appreciate the responses, and will continue to monitor this thread. Thanks gents!

With the direction wow has gone since initial vanilla release, I would expect horde to be the prominent faction.

It will be interesting to see. And I guess by direction, you’re meaning recent and leading up and to retail?

And like the gentlemen prior said, Horde’s racials scream PvP, so with that being understood prelaunch now, I could definitely see the tide change. But again man, hopefully it isn’t the elves that maintain the imbalance, I can’t recall who stated it, but it was a statistic about the side with elves being the deciding factor in so many toons going alliance lol.

I can’t wait to see. I just want quick BG queues, and I’ll be a happy camper. I will be a happy camper regardless, but just saying. I am unbelievably excited tho, I think Classic is going to be huge.

Yeah I meant expansions leading to retail. I personally think the horde fan base outweighs the alliance one pretty heavily now.

The only Horde heavy PVP server I know of from Vanilla was Maelstrom, where there was a concerted attempt to fool people into thinking the server was extremely Alliance heavy so that they would roll Horde. I don’t think that’s going to happen this time around.

Edit: do we know how battlegrounds are going to be grouped? If they are server specific or if RP realms are separate from non-RP realms, rolling Horde on an RP realm is almost certain to get you short queues.

That’s a good question. I don’t personally know if we have that information, anyone else?

And Irisse, not thinking that will happen this time around- do you mean you think most will be alliance heavy, bc there will be no attempts like on Maelstrom?

I just wanted to make sure I took away the heart of your message. Ty.

I don’t think it’s likely that Alliance on any server will be able to pull a fast one like we did on Maelstrom. Whether PVP servers are Alliance heavy depends on what the blood elf players do when they try to log in and see that the blood elf option is missing.

I guess it’s just a waiting game, both with cross realm BG, I assume that evens out queue times. Right? lol

It’s very clear that Classic will be majority Alliance on both PvE and PvP servers, just as it was in Vanilla.

Forum goers and Reddit players who min-max are the ones answering early surveys, which is why it appears to lean Horde. These are the only people that actually roll for racials…

More casual players will tend to roll Alliance.

Why? Because there are no Blood Elves. 1/3 of the Horde population is about to flip sides.

You are all vastly underestimating aesthetics.

(Caveat:. Streamers could throw off the balance, but I’m not knowledgeable enough on that to comment)

So do you think Alliance BG queue times will suffer? Or is that null with cross realm? I appreciate your input. I want to try alli so bad, but I just can’t bear the thought of long queue times, lol.

If I had to guess, maybe 10 minutes or less for queues? I don’t think it will be as bad as retail Horde.

Ya, retail horde is terrible.

And 10 minutes, I guess at least everyone competing to climb the ranks alli side has the same queue, theoretically, correct?

I need to sit with that amount of time, and see if it’s worth the switch.

But I appreciate the educated predictions, ty!
