DK are more stable. I love Ret. It’s my main and has been since forever, but as much as I love it I’m going to tell you that Blizz hates it lol. And because Blizz hates it, it will only be stable for you periodically. You’ll have to put it on the shelf routinely due to balancing issues (or go Holy/Prot when they are viable).
Pally has more spec diversity and viability. Dk is literally unholy or go home. You can pull off some silly stuff in 2s with another melee as prot pally though.
Dangerjosh and Darelin are correct that Paladins have more utility and diversity. Paladins who just don’t utilize these things and go the lazy path is not uncommon, unfortunately.

That’s how JD and I got our sweet season 1 rival titles (prot/fury).
I played my pally a ton from cata through legion almost exclusively as holy.
Pretty much gave up on healing though (just sick of it) so now I have my ret (long time character) and my dk (character only really played in wod).
So the pally has some sentimental value to me. 30+ days played (a lot for me, only my warrior and shelved spriest since mop have more by a few days).
Final test: transmogs.

I got so bored I made an heirloomed hunter (with enchants, cost about 5k)!!
What enchants ran you 5k?

Umm. I think tiger claw was like 1.5. Hidden satyr might’ve been like 2.
Here’s the man himself.
Fat Fred is an engineer so he made the incendiary ammo for me.
And 100% worth it. Just missed wrecking ball twice.
Incendiary ammo is doing about 7-8% of my damage and hidden satyr maybe 5 or so.
Totally blew up some dude at mines hilariously with aimed shot and an incendiary ammo Crit.
Chants can easily run 5k on my server. We’ve got this idiot that buys up everything and marks it all up. Crashwolf had a severe pop drop, so it’s like impossible to find things without the idiot involved.

I have this extra ac unit in a bonus room above the garage and it decided to die yesterday (the compressor anyway). Now I have to contemplate replacing a compressor with a 90 day warranty for at 10 yr old unit or spend an extra $500 for a brand new unit with a 5 yr warranty.
Of course it waits until the temp gets to 90 and thick humidity before dying.
