honestly, I’m not sure if xrealm BGs or queue dodging are the lesser of the two evils
that is, if xrealm BGs would actually get rid of queue dodging
The rank 14 grind isn’t about beating the other faction, it’s about beating your own.
It doesn’t. It just forces premades to send a sacrificial scout.
hence the second line
It’s actually even easier to abuse in classic unless they change the queuing system. Since you don’t have to join as a group and there’s no deserter debuff it’s very easy for pre mades to send in a scout and see if they’ll be matched against another premade or not.
Of course it’ll be rampant, and with BNET collusion will be even easier.
Hell, people might even offer their services as a scout for a couple gold or something.
“Warts and all”. The queue system is working as intended. Just like leeway.
-Xrealm bgs do absolutely nothing to prevent queu dodging… I’m genuinely not sure why people believe it does in any way. If anything, Xrealm bgs by their nature ENCOURAGE queu dodging rather than just playing via the removal of social consequence and shortening of queu timers
-Queu dodging itself incurs significant penalties in that your group is now waiting in twice as long of a queu for a single game, and is now running with 9 players and an alt or otherwise less ideal player from your 10/15man lineup.
It’s honestly not even worth it unless you’re a bottom feeding group, and even then you are still going to lose the honor/hour race against good groups.
-Honestly the bigger problem from “queu dodging” isn’t grouped players, it’s solo players who will bail on a group immediately and play an alt as soon as the game looks like it’s going to hell (and once you know what you’re doing, you can predict that 90% of the time before the gates even drop)
-Xrealm isn’t going to solve any of those problems, and if anything, it’s just going to encourage more people to sit around AFK waiting for a match to end, because they don’t particularly care if any of the xrealm players around them see them AFKing and it’s way more efficient honor/hour to just get the loss over with than allow yourself to be repeatedly GY camped…
-You want Queu dodging to end or at least be more limited?? Then you also want single realm bgs. It’s slightly different when your personal, group, and/or guild reputation is on the line, and that social pressure is only present in a non xrealm environment.
I mean look bro you gotta look at it from their perspective. If they ranking they will either dodge or take a quick lost to keep the honor per hour up
This.
I was in a pvp guild myself during vanilla and we would do this 100% all day for that very reason. Don’t blame the players, blame the ranking system.
Well no you want a real solution to queue dodging, change the system so you queue as a group you join as a group no more solo joining and have the system try to match groups together.
Single realm BG’s do nothing to prevent queue dodging in some ways they make it worse as the premades on the server can easily avoid each other forcing anyone not in a premade to match up against a premade all the time.
You just massively increased group queu timers to the point where no one would queu up in a group again.
Actually single realm bgs give solo players the easiest route to avoid a premade… communicate what bg they are in, then queu for one of the other two. The premade isn’t going to be able to constantly adjust their party size to chase after herds of randoms.
Its been said before and its pretty obvious. The draw back to que dodging is waiting longer for games meaning if you are ranking you are messing up your honor per hour. So what most people will do is just straight up let the other team win asap
It depends on the strength of group too…
My OG guild was the server’s top pvp guild, and just joined every game regardless, because there was only 2 alliance guilds that could even come close to fielding a team that might stall us from a 6minute win, let alone actually compete with us.
Later, after the above guild imploded horribly via basically having no one pve specced during raids and struggling with tanks/Vaelestrasz, I joined up with the Horde’s “HWL farm team” of unguilded randoms doing premades. That group had numerous people in blues, atrocious team composition , and generally struggled against -ANY- premade because of it. That group dodged like crazy, and eventually worked out truces with the alliance premades that any wsg matches would be entirely decided by the first flag capture (with the other team basically afking the rest of the match)… Shortened those games down to ~10-30minutes rather than the potential 1hr+ wastes of time where neither team could keep a FC alive across mid.
They are right on the money, avoiding pvp doesn’t make them good.
Going after ranking and farming it has nothing to do with being good just efficient.
Wait? CROSS REALMS? Since when?
What about a system that requires all party/raid members that originally queued for the BG to confirm entrance into the bg? If one person does not confirm than the whole group is removed from queue and gets sent to the back of the line?
So basically the entire group enters the BG at once or none of them do…Just a thought.
What, you thought Blizzard wouldn’t implement the worst part of the game that existed for only a scant few months?
The beta was cross realm BG’s. I know this because I was queuing as alliance from the pve server and getting games with the all the pvp server streamers. No one complained about it because no one even noticed lol. It’s a total non-issue.
And why would you even be surprised? It’s patch 1.12. crbgs help reduce horde’s exceptionally long queue times (even on the beta horde had 30 min queues that stretched into hours during off peak) and gives pve / rp / low population server players the option to actually get games, especially AV.
Would be nice if that were true.
When I was doing Arena on Cross Servers in Wrath Dodging was just becoming a problem.
My friends that play Modern WoW tell me Dodging is live and well; and they have Cross server PVP.
Alliance teams might have that luxury, i doubt horde can, their time waiting in line, will be long…
