BG Ban wave. Blizzard needs to address this

I will do whatever I want to do and you will not stop me. That’s something that YOU need to understand. You control you. I control me. Nothing will change that, ever.

I can’t control you, that much you are right about. But you should be able to control yourself and not continue to make a fool out of yourself, but fat chance.

fattest of chances. Correct

See, the large number of successful appeals happening make me disagree with you. Yes, people are “fine” if they aren’t cheating, but there’s currently a very, very long queue to get to someone to successfully appeal. During the three weeks of the pre patch event for the expansion. Time credited back to the account for the “inconvenience” doesn’t really change the fact that people who may have taken off work to try to get their boosted characters or death knights additional gear have lost hours or days waiting for their appeal to be processed. If the appeals take long enough, they could miss out on chances to get an Arcanite Ripper. That is not fine, by any stretch of the imagination.

People need to stop saying “appeal and you’ll be fine if you weren’t cheating” in cases like this, because losing one of the last 21 nights before the expansion isn’t fine. There are clearly cases of people maliciously reporting low levels afk because they don’t like them, and cases of people reporting defenders afk because they want the game to end quickly instead of winning. An extra day, a month or a year from now (depending on how long your current subscription lasts) doesn’t make up for losing a day now due to malicious players abusing an automated system.

And even if they were afking in battlegrounds… there is an established penalty for afking in battlegrounds. That penalty is being kicked from the battleground if enough people report you afk, and getting the deserter debuff for half an hour. Punishing people who knowingly afked in battlegrounds, knowing the penalty, willing to accept the penalty if they got it, with a significantly harsher penalty than stated is a bit deceptive. Advertise you’re about to change the rules if you’re going to change the rules, and don’t punish people who were playing to the old set of rules before they knew the new set of rules existed.

Instead you can just rush to the end and afk on noob hill…I no longer bother with towers since defending them gets you a ban. I just rush to drek and then watch youtube until they pull then I run into drek’s room and throw some heals at whoever has agro.

Pretty sure this is in the game already.

DUNGEON FINDER IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT…

Blizzard needs to post on this issue. Right now I’m absolutely passing on AV for fear of bans.

  1. Please stop allowing the abuse of the reporting feature.
  2. Stop automating a 30 day ban on an account. This is egregious for AFK’n in a battleground! Deserter debuff was fine.

Hopefully they will.

21 hours in and still no response on my appeal. Sadge, was hoping to get on on my day off.

Same :frowning: Really hoping they fix this before prime time today so we dont have to fight the queue boss.

same, i’m not sure how many got in appeals before me but i was roughly 40 mins after the ban wave came out

I don’t BG in classic but can someone explain to me why exactly they ban for BG non-participation?

They don’t do this on retail and there are no issues with BGs on there?

Like who cares? People have been half-afking BGs since vanilla, I don’t understand why it’s a problem now? Also the penalty is really harsh for first time.

Because AV meta is inherently rush to a spot and afk till it’s time to kill van/drek. But all the boosted 70s and DKs leveling via AV are ruining peoples experience by playing the BG in a way that is intended by blizzard. So blizzard decided to ban people with an automated system.

Still waiting as well. Sent in my appeal minutes after receiving my email. Currently sitting at 22 hours.

That’s sad

I mean even then, they’ve been doing BG bans all expansion. I’ve had guildies banned 1 week first offense for BG afk (Before wrath/dk stuff). Meanwhile people who buy gold or say racist stuff get less punishment. Just trying to understand Blizzards thought process on BG banning for classic

BGs to me have always been casual content so I expect half-afk people going into them

Still waiting for them to get to my appeal. How funny would it be if we get all unbanned and salt barons in here telling us good ridence get banned for false intentional reporting. Lolll

Reddit says the unban wave already went out with people saying they’re unbanned

Agreed. I 100% know innocent people got hit by the hammer, but I’m not going to pretend the difference between AV yesterday and before the bans went out wasn’t huge.

We know that there are people here lying. The evidence is in the game.

Seriously glad that the people innocent are unbanned. But I’m also happy that the people AFKing for welfare honor and experience got hit
