I don’t disagree. Its ridiculous. 30 days is abhorrent.
Who’s to say they aren’t being super attentive and scouting from on top of a tower, really trying to defend it to make sure it caps? Sure, some people might roll into a tower and just afk but its insane to me thats a 31 day ban if you use that strategy. Which is a legitimate, and potentially game winning strategy.
Because that makes sense. Instead you have those things… but add in a hidden parser behind the scene that REALLY holds the power and you 30 day ban people for the stupidest reason imaginable.
This actually happened to me and a couple guildies a couple months ago. We leveled some alts and I decided to grind up some pvp gear. It was AV weekend and the way I like to play AV is to defend towers until they cap and then head south. I always engaged enemy players when they tried to assault the towers and then head south right after the cap and press my buttons correctly on the boss. I caught a ban after just one weekend. My appeal response was what really made me upset though. It was the first time EVER in my accounts 14+year history I had been banned and was treated like GARBAGE. I got an automated response saying they had proof and did not have to share the details, then closed my ticket without an option to talk further. I really don’t know what is going on at blizzard but I was around when a gm would message you in game. I remember actually talking to a CUSTOMER SERVICE representative in game rather than getting automated responses but only after you log out. I think blizzard is a little out of touch and views the players as saps rather than paying customers,
The de-evolution of rational thought here is insane. People have a legitimate issue with being banned while participating and the double digit iq collective comes out just to say “don’t afk”.
You sound like some mouthbreather that reports people for being level 67 in AV. Just cuz you dont like something doesnt mean its against the rules. I have factual proof that people were falsely banned in this banwave, and its all due to people like you who game the system with the automated report feature just to “play the game the way you want to play it”. Troll.
You’re aboslutely right my guildmate bought gold and was only banned for 14 days. I goof off in av for a couple days and im banned for 30 its fricking madness.
A blue needs to drop in and speak about the criteria that garners a ban.
Here’s the thing. I logged into my other account to play. I made it a point to join the zug zug north crew. If you’re even 10 seconds late out of the cave, everything is dead before you even get there. So, without doing damage for the sake of doing damage, it is very very possible to do 0.
AV moves at such a fast pace that if you get a bunch of smooth “as it should” games, you’ll be getting 0 damage done.
According to a post made in the customer service forums by a GM regarding this issue, they automated a list of people doing low damage and healing and banned them all stating that having low numbers is a bad look.
Which is insightful, but a very ignorant way to ban people doing av.
I’d get it, if it was Warsong Gulch or AB.
But in AV, with a majority of the games being Rush to Drek / Van, its very possible that you can go a game not hitting anything if you’re defending from back caps which is necessary, as getting back capped can result in a loss.
Time to start jumping off towers and healing bandaging yourself so you don’t catch a ban lol.
Or do what the actual AFK’rs are doing, and auto attacking goats and guards to inflate their damage numbers.
Or the new meta… when you are in a tower go down the hill and pull some birds and rams. That way you are getting some damage in while defending the tower. Sure… maybe it helps them kill you and retake the tower… but its better to lose the BG “for the good of the team” and “doing some more damage on a chart” than to get banned for 30 days.
Not a good start for wotlk classic…
If we just had people that had the power to peep into the game behind the scenes and look at a player and how they are acting live. We could call them gamemasters. It would be revolutionary to the game of WoW!
Also, the argument that they “review each case after being reported and before action is taken” is bogus. Tickets are taking 5+ days because of the obvious surplus of staff needed to investigate probably 1000’s of bans? In less than a week? I wouldn’t bet on actual people determining this. Maybe some but definitely not all.
Yep, 30 day suspension for defending / attacking towers and bunkers. I made sure i would have a different strategy each game depending on numbers in towers. If there was enough defending i would move onto drek / van. I never afk’d, never had a bunker or tower get capped as i was defending it. Would fight to the death for it. Did whatever i could because i know about these automated AV bans and i was playing alot of AV (12hrs a day). Only for all my efforts to be slashed.
I wonder if people in the harpy cave copped a 30 day suspension.
There are so many people that got banned here. Probably thousands.
No way this is intended.
