BfA won Gamers` Choice Awards 🏆

First off, there have been several MMO’s that were genuinely better than WoW most of which I tried to move to. Unfortunately, the same thing seems to always happen: not enough of a WoW players friends switched with them for them to socially feel as good in the new game. They miss their guilds, their friends, people they raided with. Only 2 friends tried Rift with me, for example. We all tried to stay, but a few other friends we met on Rift just missed their friends on WoW and went back eventually, leaving our group smaller. Then Rift reworked its subscription type and compromised the game’s integrity in an effort to still make money despite from sub losses, and then the game really did actually go downhill.

So WoW, in some form, is like someone’s social media of choice. The raids can be just okay, class balance can be barely tolerable, new content can require frustrating hoops to jump through, but you’ll stay and endure a little more and shrug off a little extra because this is where your friends are.

I think that’s because there are several people who genuinely like WoW. And those people make the social core of this game. If they would have a significant amount of people who really dislike the game, they will probably agree to switch to another MMO together. Just my theory.

Who really pays attention to these awards anyway? When one can manipulate the votes threw bribes.

Grats Blizzard!

I know a lot of people aren’t happy, but there are alot that also ARE happy. I’m still enjoying the game quite a bit, as is my Husband and my father in law and friends.

I play FFXIV as well, but it’s not something I could play long term, I can only handle playing it in spurts, and that’s mostly because I have a friend who plays it, so I hop on when they are on, which isn’t often now days.

My sub is canceled, but I have active game time up until something like April. Been playing more ESO, honestly. MMOs in general desperately need some innovation.

I think WoW did deserve to win. Congrats Blizzard!

But for me BfA isn’t a good WoW expansion. I just don’t like the direction of the game play regarding Island Expeditions, Warfronts, Azertie armor, and professions, and judging from all the player votes on YouTube for the 8.1 Survival Guide, I don’t think I’m alone.

And you can tell me what to do because?

I never told you to do anything just pointing out how pathetic you are. Have a good one.

BC came out in January of 2007, which is less than 12 years ago, and you made a BE to at least level 44, so your character says otherwise.

LOL. This has to be a joke.

That is the wrong category you are looking at. WoW was a contendor in both the Multiplayer and MMO categories.

Thing about it 2.6 million votes where cast, on a system that lets you vote once an hour per E-Mail. Makes you wonder how many individuals actually voted over that weeks time.

The same can be said of the subreddit. I’ve unsubbed to it because I’m sick of the constant negativity when I have friends who are loving BfA and the current story direction.

Im very certain that WoW has put a lot more development into their game than FF14
When FF14 came out it was utter crap, and they had to redo their entire thing just to prolong game time mechanics.

There is no way that FF14 has put in more effort than wow has

It’s funny you bring that up because it highlights the key difference between SE and developers like Blizzard; SE actually had the balls to admit they screwed up, apologised and moved heaven and earth to make things right with the player base.

When was the last time you saw Blizzard honestly apologise for any of their entire myriad of screw ups let alone really work to do anything positive about it? The entire WoD was at least on par with the FF14 1.0 fiasco and BfA really isn’t winning any good will either. The whole WoW vs. FF14 really highlights the polarising difference between developer mentalities and vastly differing levels of passion/drive for their work.

Indeed. The only other MMO with a comparable player base is FF14 and with a huge chunk of them outside the USA, it stands to reason why a good amount of it didn’t care about some third rate award show most of them would have never even heard of.

And that is even before we go in to the ethics of Blizzard blues panhandling for votes or any potential “nudging” behind the scenes.

I do not think most people know this, but WOW was not even in contention for EU version of best MMORPG. That and EU awards show was three hours long, compared to CBS one hour show.

Seriously, where was Guild Wars 2?

This is not necessarily true. WoW still has the highest population even if many of us dislike the current direction of the game and subs are leaving at a decent rate.

How about that, the whiners don’t represent everyone after all.
