I really enjoyed BFA, but I won’t judge Shadowlands til it’s over. So far I like shadowlands a lot too…hope they can keep it up with improvements. I think the dev team is really slow with responses to the community too lately. (many of the issues I have with shadowlands actually have nothing to do with the actual content, so I won’t unfairly apply those feelings to my stance on the game)
I do agree it’s very grindy with the systems compared to BFA.
While I was leveling in BFA, once I dinged 116 specifically, I went from having an OK time to HATING IT. I spent a good chunk of BFA end-game daydreaming about Legion.
I missed the Heart, azerite traits and essences for like the first week. I only miss ONE specific scenario of corruptions: Guardian druids and VDH with Twilight Devastation ranks 3 and up. It made wqs and dungeons ridiculous.
I don’t really miss how my classes played in BFA*, I still kind of miss how some played in Legion. I can already tell if they take away some legendary pieces and the covenant abilities in 10.0, it’s going to feel BAD (like going from Legion to BFA felt)
That experience you described is how I felt when they changed DK’s in Shadowlands, I honestly am not a fan of the spammy feel to DK’s now and the lack of focus on wounds as much.
yeah the game is awesome for players that are into the high end mythics and stuff…for everyone else…yeah i def see it from the other side of things too.
The classes and Azerite armor at BfA launch were bare bones. Only after they piled on a bunch of systems, did the gameplay improve. Something they do every expansion now it seems
They took what I loved, and turned it into a chore that I have to do numerous times.
That just is meh to me.
I don’t mind doing content, but I don’t like feeling like i’m obligated to run 10 or whatever mythics a week to get 3 choices and only get 1 of the 3.
Same with raids, I don’t want to run 12/12N/H/M whatever unless I want to, it takes something enjoyable and turns it into an obligation, what happens If I can’t do it that much because of RL? “Owell”.
That’s where I’m at, before, I run a 15, good to go.
I’m not buying Shadowlands. I’m subbed to play in old content, not grind through new things I don’t care about. The Afterlife should have remained a mystery.
Yeah, i do it to gear up to 200 ish, but i tend to avoid the grindiness by dumping gold into gear tbh. going from 80 ilvl to 200 ilvl is a real struggle.
I bet boosters are making mad cash now.
I still level alts in old content though, it hits different than shadowlands and feels better tbh.
BFA season 4 and Legion 7.3 were both the best versions of their content.
When Ions guild finishes 9.3 and they remove all the bull crap gates from the game while they take a sabbatical to work on whatever nut vice they’re gonna preload 10.0 with, the game will actually be enjoyable again.
I think there is plenty of things worthy of complaint this expansion. But I really don’t understand the grindy one. The only sources of player power that have any grind to them are Torghast (which, after you craft the max item level of your BIS legendary you don’t ever have to do again if you don’t want to), and renown, which you earn passively by just playing the game thanks to catch up mechanics.
I genuinely don’t understand the grind complaint, not sure if I’m missing something?
