Let’s be honest, reputation grinding, it’s not fun.
Personally, I adored the WotLK reputations. You got friendly, bought the tabard and could gain reputation in dungeons, even Mists of Pandaria had a nice item, with increased reputation gains bought at Revered.
But the reputation grinds in BFA are awful, some of them are easy and take a few weeks, others take a few months, looking at your turtle folk, your babies have made it to the water, but my bar hasn’t made it to exalted.
My issue is, why do you have to do it on all my alts?
My idea, can we see the tabard, which is bought at exalted, be Bind on Account and increase reputation gains when worn in a dungeon. With this, you still keep the initial reputation grind on the first character, but the grinds are easier and quicker on alts.
If changing tabards is too hard, then bring back the items in MoP that increase repuation gains, obviously bought when the initial character has reached Revered.
I like your idea. I really liked the rep system in place with championing tabards and the MoP rep bonus. It was definitely nice for alts and it made it a lot easier.
But I doubt they will do this because of paragon rep rewards.
Oh yeah, i forgot about the paragons whilst considering my idea, that sucks, but at the same time, with the lack of mounts from the paragons, they’re only there for resources, and you could just reduce the resources received from the paragon chest.
Tabards make it fun imo,
you get to do what you want with alittle bit of cake on the side… (being if tabards gave a wee bit of rep for everything and not specific activities.)
Very true. And now that I think about it, perhaps maybe the championing of tabards and the MoP bonus rep system could stop once you reach exalted. I’m personally not a fan of the paragon system, so I wouldn’t be sad if that went away lol.
I don’t understand the love of tabards over WQ’s for rep grinding. With tabards you ran the same dungeons over and over again while it is the exact same thing with WQ’s, just that there are more variety of WQ’s than there are of dungeons.
The MoP rep increase item was the one good thing from the past I’d like back, that legitimately made rep grinds a little better.
I believe they did not release rep tabards until later in WotLK. When I started, I had to grind up rep doing stationary dailies. If anything the rep grinding in Wrath is what made them put the tabards in.
Rep grinds in BFA are a breeze compared to Wrath before the tabards. I do not mind the rep grinds in BFA at all. I recall rep grinds in Wrath as far worse and more time consuming. In BFA by the time you finish the quest line, you’re almost to revered. You get far more out of rep grinding in BFA and Legion than you ever did in Wrath.
You must not really remember Wrath at all. You got nearly nothing grinding rep in Wrath. I think some gold. That’s it. That tabard surely did not start in the game.
Some of you are remembering some later iteration of Wrath, not Wrath within probably the first year. Wrath rep grind and dailies suuuckked. BFA and Legion are far superior. You actually feel like the rep grind is worthwhile, whereas in Wrath and previous expansions, it was like a huge chore. I quit Cata before starting rep grinding. I had no interest in another rep grind. Rep grinding was the worst part of the game. It wasn’t until Legion when I said: this isn’t too bad, they finally made rep grinding an organic part of the game.
BFA and Legion rep grinds are far, far, far and away superior to Wrath and the previous expansions. You are seriously not remembering what rep grinding was like in Wrath. The hours of fruitless, pointless time grinding blue exclamation dailies, exactly the same dailies for some tiny gold reward over and over again for months. It sucked horribly.
Not to mention who wanted to use bank and bag slots for a bunch of tabards. Heck no. I hated having to keep track of all those tabards and making sure I was wearing the one I needed. Tabards were lame.
Perhaps we could have both. We can still gain rep from the wq, but having other options at rep is always nice too. I think it breaks up the monotony a bit.
I would also like to see us choose which BFA rep we want from our weekly island expedition instead of it just being Honorbound/7th Legion. Gives more incentive to go back and do IEs too.
You don’t. All rep rewards are account-wide now, including meta achievement progress, unlocked transmogs, pets, mounts, toys, and the Heart of Azeroth ilvl increases.
Tabards were in WotLK at 3.0. I remember the rep grinds not being that fun, but they honestly weren’t as bad as you seem to be getting at. I get that some for the reputations in BFA are not bad, like Honorbound and Zandalari Empire (7th Legion and Proudmoore Admiralty)
The main 2 reputations are easy to get up, then Talanji’s Expedition and Voldunai (Order of Embers and Storm’s Wake) which take a little longer than the first two.
Then Champions of Azeroth and Tortollan Seekers are just not fun to grind, there’s no enjoyment in these reputations. And do them again, and again, and again on alts is not enjoyable.
Why do you have to do them on alts unless you want the recipes? You shouldn’t have so many professions on all your alts you need to get all the recipes for every alt.
I still don’t recall tabards being out that early. I had to grind some faction in Icecrown for ages for my Death Knight for some BSing recipe I think. It was awful. Nearly made me quit the game.
I definitely quit Cata when I hit 85 and was looking forward to more rep grinding. They put in rep grinding to waste time and keep you subscribed. I said c’ya later.
This new way is so much more organic, profitable, and enjoyable.
what i find to be absolutely trash is the fact way back in the day tabards helped with farming rep now you have to be exalted with said rep to get the tabard i mean really whats the use of a tabard if its past helped with rep now its just a piece of trash with no use except to make your character look pretty really wish blizzard goes back to the original tabard idea to help with rep cause in all honesty this grind for reputation takes up more time for those who actually want to explore and learn lore or even watch the story
honestly the only rep i felt inclined to gain again on any alt was for alchemy on my druid and it only required revered to get.
I don’t even remember doing it a second time but I didn’t mind it. (i only did it with emissaries)
gotten several paragon caches too on accident but i don’t feel like anything is really required to do over again except maybe when it’s azerite emissary for my neck level.
Among reputation farmers tabards are a sign that you have achieved everything with that faction, a sign of friendship.
when people see you wear the loremaster’s colors, people know you have done every quest in the game. when people see you wear the defiler’s tabard, they know you’ve done a lot of arathi basin.
Tabards are a sign of how you play the game, prestige.
