Title says it all.

BFA: Prot Warrior: How to counter M+ BURSTING & GREVIOUS

Do the following.

TALENT
15 - [Impending Victory] - direct self healing, on demand
30 - any talent - your choice
45 - [Unstoppable Force] - bonus rage burst + extra aoe burst
60 - [Never Surrender] - best mitigation per rage spent
75 - any talent - your choice
90 - [Booming Voice] - rage on demand + extra burst
100 - [Anger Management] - faster cooldowns & defensives

Outer Trait x3
[Bloodsport] +IP base absorption Bonus 9000-15000 IP healing based on ilvl + never surrender = up to 90,000-150,000 IP value with a shield block on top of it. CRAZY GOOD mitigation. It’s like perma shield wall. +LEECH

Middle Trait x3
[Azerite Veins] Proc +x,xxx healing every 2-3 seconds for 18 sec (increased by haste) ABSURD SELF HEALING! best for bursting & grievous, gives around 50,000+ healing each proc over 18 seconds. Stack it 3 times and its 150,000+ healing over 18 seconds.

Inner Trait x3 (any of these are good)
[Impassive Visage] +xxxx HP every 6 seconds Best passive self healing
[Resounding Protection] +xx,xxx Absorb Shield every 30 seconds
[Bury the Hatchet] victory rush gives +xx,xxx absorb shield. This trait becomes absurd and almost over powered if you talent into [Impending Victory] as I listed above. It gives on demand healing WHEN YOU NEED IT AND IT CAN PROC!

The most powerful traits & talents for a warrior on bursting & grievous weeks are these. The reason why. They give direct healing to you… in the form of an absorb shield or direct healing. These traits and abilities have amazing synergy. They will become even stronger when 8.1 hits and you can actually maintain agro while using ignore pain, because its OFF GCD

The 1 Draw Back… It does require you to play differently forcing you to focus all rage on IGNORE PAIN over shield block. You will only be using using shield block in conjunction with demo shout, on the start of pulls, in large pulls, for active mitigation boss mechanics, or to prevent rage cap.

BEST HEALER: for this build
Druids are the best healer for this type of tank mitigation. The hots will keep you around 50% HP allowing you to gain the never surrender talent bonus effectively doubling your defensive rage value. Monks and Paladins are second best. As these two healers can top you off easily. When your low.

BEST DPS: for this tank build (at least 1 is recommended)
Warlocks, at least 1 is highly recommended to bring to your group. They provide the group with health stones (cookies). They also allow you to precast Soulstone on a tank or healer, instantly resurrecting them if they happen to die.

8.0 Problems with agro?
Wait 1 week till 8.1 when IP comes off GCD. This build will be crazy. Allowing you to hold aoe threat & maintain solid mitigation.

(OPTIONAL) Outer Trait
[Deafening Crash] This is the most powerful azerite trait, offensive, & defensive burst azerite trait, bar none. HOWEVER, it only works vs enemy damage. IT WILL NOT SAVE YOU FROM BURSTING OR GRIEVOUS DAMAGE!

Ever taking anything except Into the Fray in M+ is beyond stupid.

No, it’s not, and there’s a reason no one uses it. Boost, Sense, Lala, Darkee, Bowlby. none of them use it. Because it’s crap.

Only it’s not CRAZY GOOD MITIGATION. It’s good. It’s strong. It’s not GRAZY GOOD. It’s around 5k at 390. 1% leech. Which is not;

Even with Never Surrender. Which scales linearly, by the by, which means you only get the full 100% at 1% hp. Which is a tad late, in case you hadn’t grasped it.

This is not that good for tanking. Compared to other options.

ONLY WORKS ON PHYSICAL DAMAGE, AND NOT ON BLEEDS, SO IT’S WORTHLESS FOR WHERE PROT STRUGGLES, AND WORTHLESS FOR BURSTING AND GRIEVOUS

Monk or a good Disc priest is always best for warrior, hands down. not druid. Druid is a dk or monk healer.

You make me want to bash my head off a desk. It’s not that simple. Dps depends on your healer, your other dps, the affixes, the dungeon itself, and even the pulling strategy and style.

If a warrior tank every struggles with aggro, even on skittish, they need to uninstall the game. Now.

It’s not freaking optional would you STOP. For God’s sake, you’ve said this twice now, it’s not an optional trait. You’d drop a 420 piece for a 345 with DC. In ALL situations. Come 8.1, it won’t be so extreme, but it will STILL be out best trait in all scenarios. Probably worth closer to only 20-30 ilvl.

Stop spreading crap misinformation from your +11 keys. It’s misinformation, and unhelpful.

Hmmmm why are you making a tanking guide for affixes that primarily target healers? These two affixes don’t change your playstyle at all, and not only that, both of them have been nerfed recently, making them much easier to deal with. I’m not really sure what purpose this serves, and, as Drez already pointed out, you have some…questionable information in here.

I played around with a 1122221 build with 2x bloodsport and 1x dc on the target dummy compared to the normal build. I found that I could take more stacks of uber strike with the IP focused build and talked about it on the prot discord, because I was curious why we wouldn’t be using a build that appears superior. The difference is between the classroom and the field. What looks good against the target dummy doesn’t translate to actual game situations.

I’m using 1x dc 2x bfi and the normal build this week, but I’ve been giving some thought to swapping one of the bfi for a bloodsport.

Is this satire?

What good does it do to chide someone who is both;

  1. Having success in the game.
  2. Isn’t bemoaning the terrible spot warriors are in.

I understand, and appreciate, more efficient builds for prot warriors being presented, but that can be done without turning the d-bag to max.

Much like people complaining that warriors are utterly useless will quickly dilute any valid criticism, so does being a jerk all the time reduce your rhetorical efficacy.

Edit: I would have quoted Drez, but that post too long to quote.

You quoted me, but I was serious.

Edit: Poe’s Law

I’m assuming you mean my being degrading when I correct people makes them less likely to listen to me. I am aware.

Best counter to Grievous is Stoneform.

Suck it Hordelings.
