BFA is just like GW2

after playing the both games a lot i feel like half the community here should have picked up guild wars 2

Raiding is an optional end game

Most of the game can be completely solo

Story is done completely through single player mode

The only real difference is now wow hasn’t scraped the gear progression

GW2 has fundamentally more fun to me at this point. WoW’s combat in comparison to GW2 is boring dumpster fire garbage. Too bad GW2’s overarching combat system is kinda crap (you need the trinity … or something).

GW2 right now is all dressed up (fundamentally fun, engaging, dynamic combat) and no where to go (bad endgame, bad encounter design). WoW is sitting naked in your room with pants on your head (crap tab targetting, doing rotations in scripted PvE that is beat by gear checks and repetition).

I played it when it first came out, they’re nothing alike. GW2 is trash.

Because doing so would be dumb.

Meh, I tried to get into it since a bunch of friends play, but the leveling, dear god it’s just so repetitive, go to area, kill X things, loot Y things, touch Z things. But then again, I’ve got the problem of mmos generally feeling like the same thing to me and I’ve already got one I’ve sunk time into and gotten a lot to work with, so doesn’t feel worth it to me. Much rather go to different genres rather than a new mmo.

That is pretty much the exact feeling I get from both game
Guild wars 2 has really good combat on comparison, after changing my build I’ll just hoe into monsters for an hour or two

Then after a while it all seems to add up to no climax so you just kinda get bored. Really good up until that point

GW2 is alright, but it’s akin to a shallow puddle for the most part. There’s not much to sink your teeth into, and the parts of the game that did welcome open theorycrafting with its admittedly very good trait system (ala talents) haven’t been getting much, if any attention from the devs.

The world content is fantastic, but once I was done with it, I just sort of put it down and didn’t look back. It’s a shame, too, because their combat system makes for some fantastic PvP - just their versions of Battlegrounds are kind of awful, and their open world PvP mode is dying, hard.

If you were to ask me to make an MMO I’d make some GW2/wow hybrid

GW2’s combat and trait system with WoW’s content, maps etc. would probably be approaching my dream game. It’s only real problem is that the potential its combat has is totally wasted on the content you can actually use it in.

There’s all these interesting things you can do … but for 99% of the content you’re better off not bothering. It’s a shame.

We need our carrots for a balanced and healthy meal.

Yeah it’s at the point where I hit an ilvl on retail and just kinda go “what am I even trying to get out of this?”

Agreed on this one and a bit of ESO elements on their skill line level up system to make the ability perform differently.

I’m honestly shocked they haven’t had devs from WoW GW2 ff14 ESO and osrs meet up in secret and start working on the perfect mmo

I totally forgot GW2 was a thing. I thought NCsoft closed it down for another Korean MMO import that nobody wants to play.

Theyre really not the same. Wow has hammered out quite a few things that GW2 hasnt figured out yet. I liked the Aurene story (kudos to GW2 since I dont even play games for story usually) and of course they pour everything (so that players will throw their cash at the screen) into making stuff pretty, but thats about it.

The no tank, no healer thing killed gw2 for me.

I really tried to like GW2 but something felt off to me. The experience just felt really thin and nothing about the story or gameplay felt enticing to me.

ESO on the other hand feels really great. I like the story and gameplay. But what I find really stands out in ESO is how much less hateful the community is there than either here or GW2.

Just my 2cents.

To be a bit fair, GW1 didn’t really have a ‘tank’ either. But I totally get what you’re saying.

There is tanks and healers… You’ll even have warrior support healers soon.

The main issue with Gw2, is that for difficulty you have to be creative with self handicaps, like raiders doing the raid naked (yes, they’ve done it)

While i love gw2, its look, the combat feel ect.

I like the wow story, living story is so dry and dull…

Farming for just cosmetics means, more when cosmetics are not in a cash shop.

Gw2 drew a,large pvp crowd and the deva basically tols them to piss off having ignored wvw and pvp.

In fact i feel gw2,devs dont event want to work on an mmo all they do are lving story updates, which are lame…

Gw2 is nothing like wow…not even close

GW2 feels completely pointless while you’re playing it.

Like nothing you do matters.
