Solid questlines, good dungeon design, difficult mythic dungeon encounters, reignited world pvp, fairly balanced AND unique pvp classes, new races…
What the hell else do you want? Given the demands made by the player base, they succeeded in almost every front. Ya’ll are just too jaded to realize that. It’s never gonna have that same luster as when you were 10 years younger, and that’s not the games fault…
people whined and moaned in wrath about how terrible it was, as well. the forums are never happy. the thing is most of us that are happy with the game are just playing it. misery loves company and they find a sounding board in the official forums. people who are actually unhappy unsub. i’ve done it a few times. never was angry on the forums. i just… disappeared. the last time when blizz released flight and then a no fly zone right after it. i didn’t even do the zone. i just unsubbed. i came back though obv.
Besides some cringeworthy moments, the leveling storyline for BFA is pretty good. I won’t lie that I do cringe at some of the Jaina moments (Jaina’s mother has like, zero personality beyond “parentally concerned”), but overall the feel of the expansion is one of the better expansions.
…my problem however, is that, well, their gearing system just isn’t that interesting. In addition they chose some forms of unwanted uniformity among classes.
I would say the biggest problem though, is the lack of vision towards the future. There’s no big Suramar zone to make people go “Ooo” and “Aaa”. After you leveled up content and finished Uldir… the game just kind of stopped.
i’ve only done the horde story so i can’t speak on the alliance story- yet. but it was pretty good and the raid really felt like it was a continuation of leveling. and that felt pretty good.
gearing is a hot mess. i won’t argue that. but i don’t do hard content really so mostly i can do my WQ etc in peace and not worry about being sat because of not getting a piece.
i hated suramar. i didn’t read any of the quest text when i did it. i just… did it. and i got my flight. i’m glad there’s not some epic bs area with disguises etc. though my fear is that they’ll release something like that for part 2 of pathfinder and then i’ll have to make the choice to do it, or unsub.
I have actually really loved this expac so far as well. The alliance war campaign is loads of fun, I still need to do the part that came with 8.1 however though. I also need to finish the ending questline to get to Siege of Boralus, that one has been fun so far.
My biggest gripe is mainly how gutted the classes were and how we got nothing new for them at 120. Previously baseline stuff being shoved into talents or honor talents, and you can’t even use honor talents in dungeons/raids. That’s my biggest problem with BFA. The rest of what we have, though, I have been enjoying. Wish warfronts were a bit less scripted though.
Edit: The Azerite armor system is still butt–I think there was a missed opportunity to make crafters relevant by using the azerite you collect as a currency use professions to put traits on your armor. Like engraving a rune or something.
I disagree regarding the quest line structure. There are too many prerequisites, so you kind of have to do each zone in a certain order. In Vanilla most quest lines were maybe one or two quests log, which was much better; long involved quest lines were saved for things like raid attunement. The fact that all three zones - really all six zones - are mandatory is also problematic.
That said, 8.1 has breathed new life into world PVP, and world PVP has been good all along on RP shards, so the most important part of the game is healthy at the moment.
Meh… it is good while leveling but once you start the instances of the other faction, it makes little to no sense. Ask Alliance about their involvement with Uldir or why the Horde is rescuing some random KT women from the prison. The story only makes sense if you have quested on the other side.
Motherload… “good dungeon design”… pfft
No idea. I think now people is complaining about the keys not being able to be deleted any longer.
The wonders of incentives.
? unique?
You mean ARs that should be existing races customization options?
