Since some game assets are shared between Classic and BFA installation anyways, it’d be really cool to have the opportunity to play with modern graphics as the “high” graphics setting.
I prefer classic WoW game design, but the new art is superb and would be a welcome graphics setting option.
To clarify: From a user-end perspective this would be no different than changing the graphics settings that already exist. Just the “high” end would actually be “high”, and the classic graphics would remain untouched on the low end.

You can turn up the graphics in classic.

I 100% agree with this, ones personal graphics settings absolutely do not affect anyone else’s Gameplay in any way, shape or form… and let’s face it, there isn’t a single soul who is coming back for them old school, chunky graphics.
I’m all for this

There is already the option to turn up your graphics higher than they were in original Vanilla.
It looks great.

I tried this during the stress test and didn’t see any difference. The new character models and animations in BFA look much different than the classic graphics.

Classic has updated graphics you can play on 3 which is the old classic graphics or you can turn it up to 10 for better. Even 3 is alot better graphics then it was back in the day you just wouldn’t know that probably cause you never played vanilla.

I wouldn’t mind having the option for the new models and animations. /shrug

Lot of personal assumption there. As if I didn’t play from day 1 and haven’t been playing on private servers for years.
From what I tried, the original graphics looked better in private servers than the attempted recreation in classic.

I noticed in the stess test, If you turn the water graphics all the way to low, the water looks like it used to.
The water with graphics on the highest setting kind of looks like pudding to me.

Yeah using the video adjustment. The original graphics are on the bottom of the scale. They give a lot of room for better quality

Not new models of course, but better quality

Nah, Classic is beautiful.

Exactly. A personal option client-side has no effect on anyone else.

Most of the perceived “quality” comes from the new models though. Vanilla, TBC and Wrath haven’t changed that much other than taking advantage of some of the new graphics tweaks.
Classic looks much better than Vanilla with the settings cranked to high. The problem (if there is one) is the difference between playing on a small 640x480 display compared to todays 2K plus monitors. The old models really suffer.

I wouldn’t mind the updated character models being a reward for getting rank 14 in PVP, but when you get them, they apply only to your toon & they are visible to everybody no matter what their graphics settings are, this would be a good reminder that if you don’t get rank 14 you are actual garbage

Then keep the graphic option on for classic. That’s the point of it being an option.

Aesthetics matter. Other games don’t just let you change them

There are MANY games that come to mind, especially those that allow overhauling graphics with mods by communities.
